One glaring unknown is - and this speculates that SS spotted the shooter before the shot - did SS clearly recognize the person as a threat and what were the engagement protocols if not?

It's possible that he was spotted but not recognized as having a gun.

I don't understand why people believe that any author's works are an invitation to use a criticism (not critique) about those works as an attempt to vilify the author in a political forum.

The possibility of multiple shooters was why I was appalled by the behavior of the Secret Service in allowing Trump to do the fist pump before the area was secured.

But if Crooks was a patsy and the whole thing was a photo op, their behavior makes more sense.

Trump bragging about the “tremendous photo” makes me even more suspicious that Thomas Crooks was set up to fake an assassination attempt for a photo op.

I’m not arguing anything here, just asking for your source is on what protocol is for the Secret Service. I’ve been looking for information about it but haven’t found anything official - in fact any official information seems to be classified.
