Looks like Mayorkas and Cheadle are directly culpable in this failure, and we all know there's nothing that most Democrats would like more than to have seen Trump assassinated. You all here on this thread and board are evidence enough of that.

The Second Amendment clearly states teh right to own sniper rifles. Mostly used for long range squirrel hunting. Only $11,900!

The range was 152 yards the shot could have been accurately delivered by any competent shooter with a standard deer rifle. If the above is true I would suspect the possibility of an inside job. Why would anyone want to hump that 15-20 lbs rig into a highly congested environment unless they knew they would be unobserved and would definitely have access to an elevated unguarded shooting position 152 yards from the former President? The shot sound reports were said to be that of a small caliber rifle. That tells me if the above rifle was used it had to have a very good suppressor installed, which would make it longer, heavier, and harder to conceal from view, as the rifle only comes in various .30 caliber cartridges which are quite loud as well.

All the protection in the world won't stop it, especially in a country with depression/suicide rates as high as ours where many of those seeking to kill you don't care if they themselves survive the encounter.
