Thanks. It’s very scary. The orthodox neighborhood that was attacked today is only a few miles away from where I live. The encampments at UCLA were bad enough, but at least the antisemitism there was confined to campus. It didn’t spill out into the surrounding Jewish and Persian neighborhoods. The rumors I’m seeing on J-Twitter claim the pro-Palestinian gang drove up from Orange County specifically to target Jews.
Just a heads up but I have reported your posts. You are openly lying without providing any evidence. Which is whipping up a belief that all of this is about antisemitism, which is absolutely isn’t.

The synagogue was holding an event about real estate in Israel, and a company that in the past has promoted property listings in Israeli settlements in the West Bank participated.

You are a liar, purely and simply. We see you for what you are. Stirring up lies and hatred because your views are at odds with humanity.

FYI, virtually every academic, every human rights group and human rights lawyer, across the world, tells you that selling Palestinian land from under them as Israelis, is illegal.

All Americans are allowed to protest this under their first amendment rights.

You lying constantly about this does you no credit, in fact you are part of the problem.

For shame.

I see the Zionist closet racists and genocidal nutcases are still out in force in this thread, spouting many unevidenced, uncited, blatant lies as their creed effectively allows them to do.

I am grateful for the hundreds of thousands of Jews around the world who are firmly saying “not in our name”.

It is by now obvious that Israel is pursuing, and always was pursuing, a genocide in Gaza and forced displacement in the West Bank, and now Lebanon is the next target.

Perhaps stepping back from the brink of a further war and maybe stopping the killing would be the first step towards peace?

But no, I see everyone here - almost exclusively American Zionists (unsurprising) - still lying, still excusing war crimes, still claiming the same tired debunked tropes (in particular the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war - debunked due to a complete lack of evidence provided by Israel) as justification for starving 2.3 million people and continuing to bomb them, destroy their homes, agricultural lands, mosques, churches and hospitals.

I’ve put on ignore virtually every American in this thread and one Israeli. They all have in common Zionist propaganda and Islamophobic views. They are allowed, seemingly, to be racist publicly and aggressive in pushing their point of view with complete impunity from the moderators of this forum.

We see you, and we see you for what you are.

Meanwhile the rest of us will pray for Israel to come to its senses and have the courage to finally stop their genocide and make peace.

I just read an article that revealed many Palestinians in The West Bank and Gaza are rejecting overtures to form a new governing body in Gaza, and instead, they are gravitating towards Hamas, terrorism, and violence.

It is becoming apparent that Gaza and The West Bank must fall totally under Israel’s control, and all Hamas sympathizers must be dealt with appropriately.

It didn’t have to be this way, but the Arabs and Muslims in the region embarked on the path of war and terror against Israel, with the goal of genocide, from the day Israel declared its independence.

It’s time Israel puts an end to the endless war, terror, gray-zone warfare and random violence once and for all.

If that includes leveling Lebanon, Iran, etc, as well, then so be it.

Israel can accept being boiled like a frog, or scorch the earth like a fire-breathing dragon.

It appears Israel has chosen the path of the dragon.

I can’t say as I blame them.

Zionism means that you support Jews having self-determination in their ancestral homeland. Most Jews are Zionists. They may not always agree with what the government of Israel does but they do strongly support Israel’s continued existence.

Anti-zionism is antisemitism.

The temple that was attacked in LA was hosting an event to buy real estate in Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv is not “Palestinian land”. The city was founded in 1909 by local Jews on land they bought north of Jaffa. It was a Jewish city long before Israel was founded in 1948.

So the takeaway here seems to be that bullying and religious hate crimes are NOT to be tolerated, unless the perpetrator is Jewish?

And Jews have the "right" to defend themselves (up to and including disproportionate retaliation) but nobody else does (especially Muslims}?

This whole situation reeks of "special pleading".

What religious hate crime are you talking about?

What religious hate crime are you talking about?
Snatching a Muslim's hajib off of her head is a textbook religious hate crime.
Snatching a yamulke off of a Jewish man's head would be classified as a religious hate crime.
Snatching a Star of David pendant off of you would be considered a religious hate crime.

Hate crime victims can be of any religion.

You have been reported for posting false information, namely death toll in Gaza as reported by Hamas. You know its a lie yet you post it,

For Shame!

We don’t know what happened before the video starts. All the video shows is the older student jumping the younger one and beating her. Even if the Jewish girl did touch the other girl’s hajib, the Muslim girl’s response was disproportionate.

WE certainly do not know what happened prior to the video starting.

Having stipulated that, the adult/teacher DID remark immediately after the fight "Why did you give permission to yourself to snatch off that student's head covering" which seems pretty indicative to me as to why things played out the way they did.

Actions had consequences.

And for the record, I find that you lecturing me on the wrongness of "disproportionate response" to be possibly the most tone-deaf comment I've received in years.

Also for the record, I'm of the opinion that the fight should've been stopped sooner. 43 seconds is a relatively long time for a school yard dustup.

Definitely triggered Censurat! Six straight whaddabouts in a row!

Must've been especially tough for him to "pick a side" when it's Syrians vs. Lesbians.

For the record, BB, I'm against all forms of religious and gender based hate crimes.
Happy Now?

Um, no…. we do NOT know what precipitated / preceded the Jewish girl "intentionally" pulling the Hijab off the Muslim girl’s head - there is NO video of that happening, or any other preceding provocations from either girl.

😑

The victim of the SURPRISE PHYSICAL ATTACK said she didn’t try to (or something to that effect), in response to the (Arab / Muslim?) teacher who was standing by watching the ACTUAL attack, and then the video ends.

😑

So, based on a video that shows a younger Jewish girl getting attacked from behind and pummeled by an older Muslim girl, with a (guessing by the accent) Arab / Muslim teacher(?) standing by watching - and the younger Jewish girl DENYING that she did anything wrong - we are expected to conclude that we KNOW what happened before the older Muslim girl attacked the younger Jewish girl from behind??? And we should conclude that it was a hate crime by the younger Jewish girl???

🙄

Side note:

For the record: The ONLY EVIDENCE we have of ethnic or religious hate involved in the incident, was when the older Muslim girl, as she is pummeling the younger Jewish girl, called the younger Jewish girl a “Tchotchke” - a slur against Jewish girls that apparently means “cheap slut” (I had to look that up, but I suspected that is what it meant.)

Also:

The (apparently) Arab / Muslim teacher(?) standing by and letting the older Muslim girl assault the younger Jewish girl might also be considered an act of hate.

🤬

Once again, Rob:

Zero objectivity, and, in this case, intellectual curiosity, that would cause any thinking person to question what ACTUALLY happened before the older Muslim girl attacked the younger Jewish girl, and before the video started.

Be better.

Do better.

Wow…just…wow…

So an older Muslim girl attacking a younger Jewish girl from behind and pummeling her mercilessly for some UNKNOWN and objectively MINOR provocative act is acceptable / proportionate / justice, because: "FAFO" - but Israel pummeling Hamas terrorists (who are hiding behind "civilians", schools, hospitals, and mosques) after the KNOWN rape, torture, murder, and kidnapping operation perpetrated by Hamas and Gazan "civilians" on October 7th, and the continued refusals from Hamas, etc, to accept a generous temporary (potentially permanent) ceasefire deal, is unacceptable / disproportionate / injustice because: WHAT???

🤔

😑

C’mon Rob.

Be better.

Do better.

It’s not a lie. The UN, all aid groups, the US State department, the UK foreign affairs select committee recognise it as the current best estimation of the death and violence that has happened.

If they all believe it, why don’t you?

Answer: racism and Zionism.

Another one for the ignore list.

Has it ever occurred to you that those entities have their own political / financial reasons for accepting the numbers???

No one want to piss off wealthy donors and geopolitical partners in the region and around the world. And they also don’t want to piss off a portion of their own citizenry in some cases.

Also:

The "NUMBERS" of the dead and wounded COULD be a fairly close approximation of the truth, but the IDENTITIES of the dead and wounded, and their AFFILIATIONS with Hamas, PIJ, etc, ARE rightfully being scrutinized.

With propaganda being elevated to an art form by Hamas through the use of social media and the mainstream press, only a fool wouldn’t be skeptical of anything they say.

😑

And for the sake of balance, it is only fair that Israel’s action are held under the microscope, and that Netanyahu’s statements are scrutinized and met with some skepticism about their absolute veracity.

The Lancet believes up to 186,000 Palestinians have actually died in Gaza since 7 October 2023.

Their estimates follow long established methods of calculating death in wartime and their abstract can be found here: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(24)01169-3/fulltext

They state the following:

Counting the dead in Gaza: difficult but essential

Published:July 05, 2024DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(24)01169-3

By June 19, 2024, 37 396 people had been killed in the Gaza Strip since the attack by Hamas and the Israeli invasion in October, 2023, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, as reported by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
1
The Ministry's figures have been contested by the Israeli authorities, although they have been accepted as accurate by Israeli intelligence services,
2
the UN, and WHO. These data are supported by independent analyses, comparing changes in the number of deaths of UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff with those reported by the Ministry,
3
which found claims of data fabrication implausible.
4
Collecting data is becoming increasingly difficult for the Gaza Health Ministry due to the destruction of much of the infrastructure.
5
The Ministry has had to augment its usual reporting, based on people dying in its hospitals or brought in dead, with information from reliable media sources and first responders. This change has inevitably degraded the detailed data recorded previously. Consequently, the Gaza Health Ministry now reports separately the number of unidentified bodies among the total death toll. As of May 10, 2024, 30% of the 35 091 deaths were unidentified.
1
Some officials and news agencies have used this development, designed to improve data quality, to undermine the veracity of the data. However, the number of reported deaths is likely an underestimate. The non-governmental organisation Airwars undertakes detailed assessments of incidents in the Gaza Strip and often finds that not all names of identifiable victims are included in the Ministry's list.
6
Furthermore, the UN estimates that, by Feb 29, 2024, 35% of buildings in the Gaza Strip had been destroyed,
5
so the number of bodies still buried in the rubble is likely substantial, with estimates of more than 10 000.
7
Armed conflicts have indirect health implications beyond the direct harm from violence. Even if the conflict ends immediately, there will continue to be many indirect deaths in the coming months and years from causes such as reproductive, communicable, and non-communicable diseases. The total death toll is expected to be large given the intensity of this conflict; destroyed health-care infrastructure; severe shortages of food, water, and shelter; the population's inability to flee to safe places; and the loss of funding to UNRWA, one of the very few humanitarian organisations still active in the Gaza Strip.
8
In recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths. Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death
9
to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7·9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip. A report from Feb 7, 2024, at the time when the direct death toll was 28 000, estimated that without a ceasefire there would be between 58 260 deaths (without an epidemic or escalation) and 85 750 deaths (if both occurred) by Aug 6, 2024.
10
An immediate and urgent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is essential, accompanied by measures to enable the distribution of medical supplies, food, clean water, and other resources for basic human needs. At the same time, there is a need to record the scale and nature of suffering in this conflict. Documenting the true scale is crucial for ensuring historical accountability and acknowledging the full cost of the war. It is also a legal requirement. The interim measures set out by the International Court of Justice in January, 2024, require Israel to “take effective measures to prevent the destruction and ensure the preservation of evidence related to allegations of acts within the scope of … the Genocide Convention”.
11
The Gaza Health Ministry is the only organisation counting the dead. Furthermore, these data will be crucial for post-war recovery, restoring infrastructure, and planning humanitarian aid.

The Lancet article takes the unconfirmed figure of 37 396 deaths in Gaza, calls them “direct deaths” and multiplies it by 4 to get 186,000 “indirect deaths”. We actually don’t know how many deaths reported by Hamas were directly caused by Israel’s attacks.

They did the same thing in the Iraq war where they took the purported.Alleged deaths and multiplied it by four and five
