The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

yes...
I am not fooling around when I say, "I know enough to get me into trouble but not nearly enough to get me out" regarding any language other than English (US not Queen's).

When I was a kid I used to translate for my mother, mostly help reading instructions and forms, and hated it. You learn adult stuff way too early.

But, polyglots listen differently and see things from alternative perspectives, an advantage in any field requiring analysis, creativity and understanding.

Plus it’s fun to eavesdrop when people have no clue you understand them.

I want to learn "I know what you said" in lots of languages to see facial reactions when I say it.....

Looking up that Hawk tuah thing.
I feel so out of the loop. lol
I had to look it up. Then had regrets.
Reinforces my feeling of mostly okay being out of the loop.
You definitely nailed it Miss K
Yep - no need for a catch up when you have such succinct summaries 😁
Uhoh....where the green mermaid lives?
Took me longer than it should
I am not a fan of the green mermaid....it tastes strong and bitter....sacrilege I know
Then again, I've always said "coffee shops" tend to make the worst coffee. At least the ones that do volume business.
Always tastes burnt and bitter to me. Think it's a tendency to over roast the beans, brew batches too large and fast, and reliance on most customers adding ungodly amounts of ...fixings... that tend to mask the worst of it.
Not a popular stance, but haven't had a decent cup of black coffee at a coffee shop pretty much ever. 🤷‍♀️
