At the in-laws for father's day. I'm pretty sure today is just family with all the nieces and nephews. I'm also pretty sure there are children here I've never seen before in my life.

Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers on Lit!
I am not much a Father's Day guy. My relationship with my father was not strained, it was nonexistent past the age of 8 or so. But I love being a father, and my own was a beautiful example of what I wanted to avoid at any cost. So honestly, every day I get to spend with my kid is good. I know she loves me, and she shows it often. Heck, she has started doing the dishes, which makes her better than at 40% of the roommates I have ever had. I get to spend time with her, watching movies or Monday Buffy Night, our standing appointment. I get to help with her homework in college. I get to take care of her when she needs me to and encourage her when she doesn't. I love her so very much, and looking at her life, it has been worth everything I sacrificed.
Now she is going to take me out on an excursion she has come up with, and then to dinner (which I will probably pay for, heh.) But she doesn't get that I am just happy to spend the time with her, whenever I can.
I know there are some amazing fathers out there and you have my love and my admiration. Have a wonderful day, and keep being an example of what a father is to your kids, no mater their age. You matter so much.

There were WAY too many kids at the in-laws.
My wife's siblings need to stop procreating so damn much.
