About 20 years ago, I used a dating site to try and meet some women. It was the type of site that interviewed you and tried to match people up who they thought had similar tastes. I went on three dates using that site. The 3rd was unique for me.

They matched me up with someone who was over 20 years younger than me and in college. I had never considered trying to date someone her age, and, to be honest, I thought there had been a mistake in her interview. I went through with the lunch date/get to know each other visit. She was very polite and friendly. I liked her, but could not shake the feeling that we were mismatched due to my age. She couldn't possibly be interested in someone my age.

When we left the restaurant, we were going our separate ways. Before saying goodbye, she told me how much she enjoyed our lunch and how she hoped we'd be able to meet again soon. Again, I thought she was simply being polite. We never met again. But I suspect, now, that I was foolish and simply naïve about younger women possibly enjoying the company of men who were much older than themselves. I think we could have done well together.

Not seeing her again is a major regret in my life...
