Monday, April 15th: First Ever Criminal Trial for a Former US President

If that's correct, I read that to mean that Trump won't be allowed to vote until after he's served whatever sentence he's given.

Oh, who are we kidding? If there are any fines attached to his sentence, he'll NEVER pay them.
How much cash will he need to be floated to appeal?

Most likely not giving him the awww shucks discount like before right?

there's an appeal mentioned in one of my earlier posts ... a special board that felons can appeal to for special permission. given it's Florida, he may well be voting come November
Could be. Maybe Florida will ban mail-in voting before then, and he'll actually have to go to a polling station for once.

Nah, he'll just make Eric take his ballot to one of those ballot harvesting thingies.

I pretend to care about what ?

I can: New Yorkers should be embarrassed of their justice system

Yes, you and Turley are sad for the NY legal system.
I'm not going to argue with all you leftist Trump haters, hate away.

I will predict the Trump legal team will appeal to the supreme court with a * Writ of Certiorari* challenging the failure of due process by Judge Merchan, violating the 5th, 6th and 7th amendments.

apparently, technically, he could be sentenced to picking up trash from the verges... somehow i don't see that happening, though. Can you imagine Secret Services following him along? o.m.g

Wow look, happy meals are legal related this month?

You learn so much as you drop those fries in the box don’t you?

I doubt that. The Judge very properly told the Jury that they could not convict on Cohen's testimony alone. Costello as a witness for Trump was hopeless. Pecker certainly provided useful background but it was documents and records that essentially secured the conviction. Witnesses provide the theatre, but the real grinder of Trump's defence was the facts, unalterable facts, contained in contemporary records.

To get to guilty of 34 felonies, there had to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the purpose of the falsified documents was to benefit the corrupt orange traitor in the election. (The election conspiracy).

That ^ is where Pecker’s testimony proved damning, imho.

Pecker was the most credible nexus between the falsified documents and the election conspiracy if you somewhat discount Cohen’s testimony.

Of course there were other important factors involved in reaching the verdict, but it is veeeeeery telling that the jury specifically asked for Pecker’s testimony, imho.

🇺🇸

Side note.

There’s a reason Pecker was the prosecutions first witness.

👍

every witness that provided confirmation of trump's signatures on cheques, to his involvement in discussions and decisions, the text/phone analysts... all of their testimony was invaluable, culminating in a full and clear picture of events as they transpired for the jurors.

house speaker, carlson, and no doubt all those who stand to lose most from trump's disgrace will shout the loudest... they may need a big ass megaphone to be heard above the laughter & cheers of those who appreciate the verdict

returning to my titanic allusion, i am waiting to see him lying broken on the bottom of the sea bed, 2 miles down in the dark and the cold

I think you meant a petition for writ of certiorari.

Seriously, the 7th amendment? 😄

Good times today, good times, my fellow Litizens. I see TightyRighty didn't disappoint in his Greek tragedy-like lament. :ROFLMAO:

The odds of impartiality seem improbable. Even the President himself harbored doubts about the fairness of the trial. Though I held onto a glimmer of hope that at least one juror would see through the manipulation, that hope waned in the final days of the proceeding
I don't mean to step on your already deflated bubble here, Hemingway...but maybe you missed a piece of verity about this whole magilla:

Trump could have weaponized the DOJ and had his AG prosecute Hillary but he rose above it

The motherfucker ran on a platform promising exactly that. Didn't do shit but play golf on the weekends.

What did he "rise above?" Yeah, he rose above all you saps that fell for his grift and rained more piss on your heads for you to lap his lies up like it was Country Time lemonade. :ROFLMAO:

There is a tale an untold saga, the very fabric of narratives that captivates the masses in theaters across America. It unfolds around a lone figure, his spirit unbroken despite relentless assaults from an unyielding adversary. He faces off against a malevolent force, a twisted embodiment of wrath and greed—a relentless pursuit for dominion veiled in darkness. At its core, it's the timeless clash between good and evil.

A story to be released on November 5, 2024.

That sounds like a great intro. Is it based on a true story?

If this is a book that you are working on or a Lit story intro, it's intriguing. But it probably will get flagged by Lit's AI checker. It has that ring to it. But then it is intriguing!

Good luck with the story!
With not much going on in the news, I checked your paragraph out of curiosity. Justdone.AI Detector says it has an 89% probability of being AI. So, I was right in thinking this might not meet the smell test for Literotica.com. :poop:

You're gonna need some help editing your work, Rightguide, to get it past Laurel.

So didn't Florida repeal the ability for felons to vote?
TV commentators have it that Florida laws say if the felony occurred in another state, NY, then he can still vote as a resident of Florida. However, it can affect his ability to hold a liquor license for a club, and as a club owner/manager, that could be a future problem at Mar-a-Lago.

How much 💰are you donating to the criminal’s pity party? Are you one of the many MAGA dupes who are going to send money to the corrupt lying Millionaire?

How many little old retirees are going to give big from their social security checks while Trump stiffs his attorneys?

The only time in my life that I've ever donated to any political campaign was the dual Senate election, I think, in Georgia. One was a special election. The ones involving Raphael Warnock and Kelly Loeffler. Off the top of my head, I can't remember who the other candidates were. I know the Dems pulled off both victories. But I donated directly to voteblue.org. for a fund directly supporting those two Democrats. It was just 10 bucks, and I don't exactly know why I was so compelled to donate just because of those particular senate elections, I just felt that those two in particular were unusually important. So I would suggest you look into voteblue.org. In my extremely-limited research on the subject, I think that organization offers a good bang for your buck.

I’m sure there will be a vote orange link that our usual suspects will float here (since it will automatically be on every one of the lame “sources” @Rightguide posts)

And so I’ll not argue with you, a certified MAGAt who decries this conviction, while claiming to be a rule of law guy, yet willfully turns a blind eye to all the other things trump has done that truly threatens our institutions, democracy and standing in the world.

trump absolutely hopes the appeal gets before SCOTUS and transactional trump won’t be friends with them if they don’t come through for him because they, you know, owe him.

Take a look in your own back yard for God’s sakes. I’m a certified American citizen. Using MAGAT in the pejorative to describe me is school yard bully stuff.

Two avenues the Trump team can simultaneously through the appellate process Petition the SCOTUS by

1. WRIT of CERTIORARI
2. COMMON LAW WRIT

A district DA or a state trial court judge shouldn’t have such a powerful influence over our federal election process. This court should be severely admonished for interfering with federal elections.

I truly hope that the pendulum of vengeance and retribution doesn’t swing back. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail using our constitutional values correctly, working within our constitutional laws to right the ship and put our justice system back on tract and not lower ourselves to that low standard of juris prudence exhibited by New York’s flawed legal system.

SCOTUS won't take the case.

SCOTUS won't take the case.
You don’t know that. The Supreme Court has skipped over state courts if a state court denies or slows discretionary reviews concerning constitutional law such as due process or interfering with federal the election process. We’ll see.

They have rejected all efforts to expedite these cases. Why would they change that position now?

My apologies then. I was working off of the duck thing. But I note that you didn’t dispute my claim.

Your boy is running on a vengeance and retribution platform and he gives zero fucks about the constitution. Or haven’t you noticed. So if you’re counting on trump for a pendulum swing back to civility and constitutional neutrality don’t hold your breath because trump ain’t that guy. And if he gets the presidency somehow cooler heads will not prevail because of his first go round. But yes, hopefully both sides can simmer down and breath a sigh of relief if trump loses, though he’ll shit stir for awhile.

Jonathan Turley is stumping for Trump on FOX. And the Five is spinning trump as a hero fighting the corrupt Biden conspiracy and completely minimizing what actually happened and that it will ignite the base. Doing what they do and claiming a victory for Trump while a loss for the divided country.
That shows you how far off the track you've derailed your common sense.
