Stupid Boomer (aka 'Well Regulated Militia') Thread

Make the gun community self-policing. If you own a firearm, it must be stored securely at a registered gun club. You can check your weapon out for harmless purposes like hunting or target shooting, but it' s a felony to keep it out for more than a few days.

If a gun is used to commit a crime, the gun club can be sued for damages. In egregious cases, the club's license may be revoked, and the other members will have to find a new place to store their firearms.
Not a chance. My firearms are mine and I will keep them in my possession.

I disagree with the keep it at the club idea. Too many things to go wrong with that. We have it that way as well at military armory storage. Too many issues. Been there, seen that. Why would having it off the club be a potentially career and livelihood ending felony? Gun=crime is the equation? Always? No. Why sue the club for an individuals actions? No. Blame lies on where it came from. Individual actions and responsibilities. This is a huge factor that escapes alot of people who either never had it or can't handle it.

And one last thing. You said get the firearms from the club to go hunt. That would mean I would have to leave the area of the club to go out to the hunting rever and it would be in my possession and custody. Meaning I'm responsible for it and what happens with it and the result of it. Legally and financially. But away from your idea of a safe space, a club. This argument collapses under its own nieve premises. When we have a society that washes their hands of any and all responsibilities and demand outside resources to take care of the results or to undo or excuse them of responsibilities or results, this becomes the mindset. It gets applied to every aspect of life, which is ridiculous.

Those sportsmen and sportswomen you want sequestered to the club aren't the gun issues every single weekend in Chicago, Baltimore, Miami....take a better look at the persons pulling those trigger vs the one you are worried about.

Americans hardly understand their own history, laws and what's actually the issue at hand.

You watched how the results of this kind of gun policy played out in Israel on Oct 7th and you still push this bullshit?

You need to stop being afraid of life.

Just not even a valid suggestion here. The point of having a gun, over all others, has been self defense. (You can argue whether that has occurred or not, but not relevant to my point) Having to store your gun at a gun club is just dumb.

This is what I call a completely unnecessary dumb ass death. That idiot kid needs to go to prison for a LONG time.
If the kid had killed someone with a car with very stupid behavior, no one would be blaming the existence of cars.

I don't disagree. The gun is not responsible for that girl's death. The idiot guy who "thought" the gun was unloaded is completely responsible.

Map Shows One Weekend of Mass Shootings in America: 6 Dead, 64 Injured

A shooting in Akron, Ohio, left 24 injured and one person dead, one of at least 10 mass shootings that happened across seven states over the weekend.

Meanwhile graduation ceremonies all across the country are being conducted without anything happening at all. Birthdays young and old are being celebrated. Weddings and Bar Mitzvah's too. And what about that UFC fight?

It's almost like you focus on the bad in order to promote despotism so you can force people to comply with your personal ideology instead of seeing all the good in life.

You carry on concentrating on your back yard and eventually you'll convince yourself that there are no mass shootings in America.

That's a good idea, let's have intelligence tests alongside mental health assessments before people are permitted to possess lethal weapons.

Bizarre:

Yesterday, man goes on Atlanta TV, describes being caught in the middle of a shootout at a food court that had 3 people fatally shot. Says he got a knife, wishes he had a gun....

Today: Same man gets on express bus to the suburbs, waves a knife around, "Good Samaritan" old white guy pulls out gun, guy with knife disarms old man and suspect shoots Good Samaritan dead with his own gun. Then puts gun to drivers head and leads bus destruction tour through downtown Atlanta rush hour. Finally caught when pinned to the curb by Atlanta police armored car, Georgia state trooper puts an armor-piercing bullet round through the natural gas powered engine's main engine block. Suspect captured alive.

You can't make this stuff up.

Newcastle removed Aaron Brown Myers from the city’s public safety committee

Rohani, a 17-year-old Kent-Meridian High School student, was heading toward a Big 5 Sporting Goods store with two friends when Myers, an off-duty security guard, approached them with his gun raised, according to a probable cause affidavit. Prosecutors said Myers tackled one of the boys, then turned his Glock 19 at Rohani and fired at least seven times.

Prosecutors pointed to a March 29, 2022, incident, when Myers called 911 to report seeing a person on a bike pointing a gun at people. Myers followed the person through multiple stores, telling police he “might have to shoot.” But when officers arrived, they determined the person was carrying what appeared to be a metal bike part

Yup, someone who has escaped from Wat's gun-polishing club.
Or as some might say, the only thing that will stop a self-absorbed gun nut with narcissistic hero-syndrome is life imprisonment.

From another report,
The boys immediately put down the BB gun and assured Myers it was not an actual gun while compling with his orders, according to the complaint. Myers then proceeded to strike one of the boys and pin him to the ground, then moments later fatally shot another teen claiming that the boy had attempted to grab a gun, the complaint said.

A review of the surveillance footage did not match up with Myers' version of events, according to the complaint, and instead showed the man "escalating" the situation with "more and more violence," according to the complaint.

And in case you were wondering, Myers is currently trying to raise $2m bail so he can have another go.
