In a ruling related to the ongoing criminal trial, a panel of New York appellate judges has denied Donald Trump's challenge to the limited gag order in the case.

In April, Trump filed an Article 78 petition to challenge the constitutionality of the limited gag order, which prevents public statements about witnesses, jurors, lawyers in the case other than Alvin Bragg.

Trump argued that the limited gag order overstepped on his First Amendment rights.

In their ruling today, the appellate judges acknowledged that while Trump does not surrender his First Amendment rights once he enters the courtroom, those rights "may be subordinated" by the issues that arise during the trial.

"We find that Justice Merchan properly weighed petitioner's First Amendment Rights against the court's historical commitment to ensuring the fair administration of justice in criminal cases and the right of persons related or tangentially related to the criminal proceedings from being free from threats, intimidation, harassment, and harm," the decision said.

A well known New York City real estate lawyer has reportedly prompted the state of New York to investigate Judge Arthur Engoron after he claimed to have given the judge unsolicited advice.

Engoron ordered former President Donald Trump in March to pay a $454 million judgement after 30 lenders turned him away.

Trump - who frequently referred to Engoron as 'crazed' and 'corrupt' - posted $175 million in bond before a deadline to avoid asset seizure as he appeals the ruling.

CNN host Fareed Zakaria said he doubts the hush-money case brought against former President Donald Trump in New York would have been levied against anyone else.

Republicans “seem to be uniting behind Trump” as he faces multiple prosecutions while seeking another term in the White House and “whatever opposition he faced in the primaries has largely melted away,” Zakaria said on “GPS,” his Sunday morning show that airs on CNN.

“And the trials against him keep him in the spotlight, infuriate his base who sees him as a martyr, and even may serve to make him the object of some sympathy among people in general who believed that his prosecutors are politically motivated,” Zakaria added.

“This happens to be true in my opinion,” Zakaria continued. “I doubt the New York indictment would have been brought against a defendant whose name was not Donald Trump. A majority of Americans are skeptical that Trump will be able to get a fair trial, according to a CNN poll.”
