Monday, April 15th: First Ever Criminal Trial for a Former US President

'We're partially through the prosecution case, we've decided that there's not enough evidence so far and Trump is innocent'.

That sounds much like, 'We're partially through the votes, we've counted the Republican votes and decided that there are not enough Democrat Party votes so far and Trump won.'

Still waiting on the prosecution to show us the "crime."

I wake up in the morning either looking forward to the day or not. I'm finding that the days when there is a Trump court case in session are days I'm looking forward to.

Bets?

I'm not even sure the Jury will. And if they do, the Appeals may find Judges who don't.
The process. The long process that Trump can even be credited causing. The long process during which he is twisting in the wind and being frustrated and angry as hell. All part of the public accountability process.

Are you familiar with weathervanes? This trial will be like one of those as it will likely be the only one that decides the November elections. The other trials will not be decided before the elections take place, if at all.

A recent poll, if you consider them somewhat indicative, said that 26% of Republicans would change their mind about voting for Trump if he is found guilty of a crime. That percentage would effectively move the weathervane toward votes flowing in the Biden campaign direction. Twenty-six percent would be enough of a tilt that Trump's chances of winning would be nearly impossible [unless someone found a way to 'rig' the voting machines again.]

So far, the trial is progressing well, and nothing indicates a mistrial in the winds. I hope that when the jury reads its verdict, the 26% will accept it and vote for Biden.

Trump was guilty of sexual assault. Not enough evidence or testimony to support the more serious charge of rape.
if i remember rightly (it's questionable at times), the parameters of the 'sexual assault' as opposed to 'rape' vary state to state? perhaps even jurisdiction? I do know i read that in many other places exactly what he was convicted of there counts as 'rape' in their courts.

Except he wasn't convicted in their courts. Thus, he hasn't been convicted of rape no matter how much you want that to be true.

Which is what? To pay legal fees in return for getting an NDA settlement?

Not a crime.
You know perfectly well that is not what he's being prosecuted for. Unless you're a contributor to Daily Missed Caller, you're better than that.

According to the DA, Trump is being prosecuted for fraudulently saying that his legal payments to Cohen for Cohen's legal services is unlawful because the bookkeeping says they were payments for legal services instead of recording them as campaign expenses.

Which, BTW, would have been ILLEGAL for Trump to do.

Yes, that's more like it. Except that the payment to Cohen included the NDA money for the woman.

^^ Another poster who has been dumbed down to pictograms only and can't use words any more?
One day, you *might* learn how to post images and be enlightened. Until then, just watch and cry about how other posters choose to post and shut your hole.

LOL you know the charges are not about the NDA, but about forging business records, which is illegal in NY State.

The ledgers show the payments to be "legal fees" which they were. And AGAIN, not a crime.
