It was too hot when I talked founding fathers?
It's funny, as a non-american, how "founding fathers" has become synonymous Washington and, uh... those other guys.

Here's a curveball! Stockholm was founded around the year 1250, by a man called Birger Jarl. Sweden as a whole does not really have a founding date (as it slowly came together by the merging of vassal states), so the beginnings of our capital will have to do.

No paintings of the man has survived to this day, but there is a church on the west coast of Sweden called Varnhems Kloster, built around the year 1150, which holds the only known depiction of Birger from his own time.

And the church isn't looking too bad either for being a millennia old!
