As "They" say, with great freedom comes great responsibility. I remember Mom telling me when I was small that I could be free of her when I took responsibility for myself. I rather liked the idea and then came to embrace it. In so doing, I also familiarized myself with the concept that, hey, I'm taking care of myself and am beholding to no one, so fuck off.

Except for the 60% tax load. Millions of six-figure email job bureaucrats and welfare dependents are counting on you.

Looks like junk Yugo Mausers can be had for $200 each. Some repair and assembly required . . . .

First thing in the morning, right after breakfast, mom chucked us outside and locked the doors.

We had lots of freedom. Good thing we had a farm to forage from.

From their FAQ:
The FairTax is a single-rate, federal retail sales tax collected only once, at the final point of purchase of new goods and services for personal consumption. Used items are not taxed. Business-to-business purchases for the production of goods and services are not taxed.
There's a lot to like, except this proto-UBI:
A prebate makes the effective rate progressive.

The prebate is blind and goes to every household.
Hmm. I think this is a bad idea. Then again, I like flat tax because it is not progressive. Everyone pays into the system, and therefore no one is voting how to spend opium (OPM = other people's money).

I hate the Flat Tax because it still involves an IRS and the IRS is anathema to my privacy (liberty).

The government has no fucking business knowing the details of my employer's and my contract(s) unless we go to court.

Which is some improvement over the morons we have now.
Mob rule naturally rewards the left half of the bell curve. Also it seems to me that the more we spend money on socialism, the more we reward low-quality people, and therefore we get more of them.

A prebate does not require any knowledge of me other than an address.
That alone is a major bureaucratic undertaking. I like the idea of making all taxes sales taxes however because it penalizes consumption instead of production. Then again, I wouldn't want to end up like Europe with some of their insane taxes like on new cars.

Here is how you fund government. You set up one of those dunking booths on the White House Lawn

Xiden is still pretty good at sitting down, he gets to have a seat on the paddle

1000 a throw. If you accidentally hit Xiden you get another free throw

After he dies of Pneumonia Peloser gets a turn

Who should be next? We gots some socialism to fund!

I have spent the day so far wondering why this-here firearm hasn't killed me.

Yet.

Hasn't killed me yet.

Or anyone else, for that matter . . . .
I just bought a new Ruger buckmark. They are like peanuts, once you start you can't stop!

Anyway, it was just sitting there not killing anything so I thought it might be defective. Sure enough, it didn't have any bullets in it. So I put some in. Still nothing.

So I took it outside and set it on the bench

Nada

So I picked it up and worked the slide so that a round was in the chamber

Still negative function

Perplexed, I pointed it at a target and still no noises

At this point I was wondering if Rural King had sold me a bad gun.

Then I remembered that you have to pull the trigger and it Fired!

I was so relieved!
