My thought is, when parking, you are able to stop traffic and safely back onto the space knowing another car likely won’t show up in the same spot. And when you go to leave, you can clearly see if cars are coming and pull out quicker and safe, because of that visibility.

Conversely, pulling in nose first is faster, but pulling out is more likely to have a problem because you can’t see as well.

And as you said - somebody is likely to have to wait either for backing in or backing out. I can’t see how either can be considered rude.

But, I am skilled at backing up, so it doesn’t take me long, either way.
