Day 6: A song you don’t understand

Omg, I almost forgot to post a song. I debated posting a K-Pop song but I have posted two before, so I am going for something a bit different...

I bought the Lilith Fair vol. 1 two CD collection when I was 18, and I discovered some artists I had never heard before. I purchased it because of my love for Sarah McLachlan, but also it was a Celebration of Women AND a fundraiser for Lifebeat and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. Wins all around.

I heard Sur Tes Pas by Autour de Lucie and absolutely fell in love with it and wanted to learn French so I could understand the words!

Well, 25 years later I still don't speak French and have no real idea what they are saying... 😕

Still love it though!

And giggling at a funeral fits that theory how?
Well, you obviously haven't been to my family funerals, we're freaking hilarious. Irrespective of your funeral attendance or lack there of, it's obvious he's describing his lover, and going to "church" is a euphamism

Day 6: A song you don't understand

Ooh, this is a fun prompt.

Do I know Romanian?
Hell no.

Do I belt this out as if I do speak Romanian every time it's on the radio?
You bet your sweet arse I do.

Do I wave my hands around like a fat kid who had no idea he'd be one of the first viral sensations of the early Internet?
Of course I bloody do!!

Day 6: A song you don’t understand

Trying to get into Zappa's canon took me several tries when I was younger... and the experience of getting into certain songs or albums is similar, in terms of needing to take a few runs at it. Like, 'I hate this'... 'I hate this'... 'I hate this'... and then suddenly it all finally clicks, and it's practically orgasmic. This song illustrates that experience perfectly. (Oh, and I don't really understand it either, of course... almost forgot why we were here... lol.)
Happy (eventual) orgasms, everyone!

Love this album!

So, he later says “if the heavens ever did speak, she’s the last true mouthpiece” so I think he’s saying that her (the woman he describes) outlook on life and its meaning is closer to truth than what the church posits.

I saw a video of him talking about this song and it’s music video. He said it was about sexuality and it’s intersection with religion, and strongly against homophobia in the [catholic] church.

He did specifically say it’s NOT about oral sex, as many people interpreted it to be 😂. So he wrote a song about oral sex, in response to that.
