Day 6: A song you donโ€™t understand
Ooooo this is going to be a fantastic day! Hope there's a lot of non-english stuff!

Back around the turn of the century, before Spotify, before youtube and apple music and all that stuff, there was KaZaA, Napster, Limewire, DC++. It was a bit of russian roulette; when you set out to download something you might end up with what was on the label, or maybe scat porn, or something... a lot worse. It was the wild west of the internet.

I was looking for Britney songs, as one did in their teens, but stumbled into someones odd music library. There were strange characters, a language I didn't know. I loaded up a bullet, spun the chamber, and pulled the trigger.

What I got was, as I found out later, the debut album of Korean pop-diva BoA (Beat of Angel). It was incredible, transformative, it made me realize that one does not need to understand the lyrics to understand their meaning, to share that feeling, the emotions of music.

It's been two and a half decades, and BoA has become known as the Queen of K-pop. Her style has matured, she's experimented with mixing genres, and her music has become... darker.

BoA - Better

Edguuuuuyyyyy!!
I think I love you a little bit ๐Ÿฅฐ wow, it really hits me how old that song's become, when I see Tobi with long hair..
Right back at you!
Great minds!

I love a lot of the European Symphonic Metal. Nightwish, Within Temptation, Delian (1st few albums at least), Amaranthe (just got their new album the other day), Epica, etc.
Not sure Lacuna Coil falls into that category but I just lump them in the European Metal category. Iโ€™ve seen all those bands at one point with the exception of Epica. Never saw them live.

Iโ€™m not even sure Edguy and Avantasia fall in those categories either, but nonetheless I love it!
