Whaaaaat! No way!Day 3: A song by an artist no longer living
In honor of @aussiegeekygal doing me a solid today, I'll go with a fantastic, highly underrated Aussie band:
RIP Chrissy Amphlett
I Touch Myself-Divinyls
Almost, but you did it! Lol you can pick a different one next time there’s a “favorite” promptHow to pick just ONE favourite artist??? Almost impossible
"Hey, just out of curiosity, who's your favorite child?"Day 4: A song from your favorite artist
Just to be clear, for some parents "Who's your favorite child?" is a VERY easy question to answer."Hey, just out of curiosity, who's your favorite child?"
An excellent excellent choice!Thought about it and had to go with Johnny. This is not even one of his songs, but him doing a Nick Cave song is like a match made in heaven.
It is no secret that I greatly enjoy your posts. You bring such an interesting view of everything, and such wonderful stories. So I looked at today's' prompt and thought, "What will vagrantx choose as her favorite? Some German/Swiss symphonic power metal epic about making the perfect pudding? An obscure Swedish Nintendorcore Pirate Metal band with a lead singer who looks like a supermodel? It is going to be something awesome." Little did I know."Hey, just out of curiosity, who's your favorite child?"
Oof. Hmm. Well, going by "spotify; your year in review" my most listened artist of 2023 was Iron Maiden so, I guess Maiden? So, my favorite performance by Maiden... Who's my favorite grandchild? Argh. @morelikeasong , this is too hard!
Fuck it, let's just pick one.
There's a reason Bruce is nicknamed the Air Raid Siren. He can bellow his heart and soul out like no other. While other singers may have a broader range, higher notes, darker growls, Bruce puts them all to shame.
Their En Vivo concert was Bruce at his best. His rendition of The Talisman is legendary, unbeatable, the epitome of live metal. If you're not a fan of Maiden and don't want to sit through an 8 minute epic, then just listen from 5:25 as Bruce hits the chorus.
Chills.
Fucking chills.

Stuff like this is why I absolutely love this thread! @vagrantx choosing this song led to a wonderful story shared by @UnquietDreams. Music is the best way to share our heartsIt is no secret that I greatly enjoy your posts. You bring such an interesting view of everything, and such wonderful stories. Iron. Fucking. Maiden.
This is the song of my youth, and my life. I still remember dropping the needle (we had those) for the first time on Side 2 (I played it first) of Number of the Beast. Of hearing Bruce scream for the first time. Of the chills. Of thinking that everything is different now. It is an indelible memory, of a time when music was just so powerful. I remember screaming myself hoarse in the crowd during the Powerslave tour. I remember the nervousness working backstage in Spokane during the "Seventh Tour of a Seventh Tour," and getting to meet them, talk to them, shake hands. Not long, but still, and fucking rough gentlemen, every one. (Not so much with Guns n' Roses.) And somehow, talking to their tour manager, who was an utterly charming woman, I ended up on their Christmas card list and got Christmas cards from Iron Maiden for four years! They were the ones they sent to radio stations, and all had Eddie as Santa. Inside it was signed by the band, and they all, for four fucking years, each had a variation of "and Happy New Beers!" All of them. Every year. And I remember seeing them live a few years ago. And they still slam! And Bruce still screams. Epic. Fucking Epic.
It is so good to see this isn't just my generation, that they still have the power to affect younger generations in the same way. Oh, my little time traveler, you do my soul good.
Up the Irons!
