On one hand, that makes so much sense and having such a guard up would certainly have spared me some pain and heartache. But I have also met some friends whom I absolutely love and that also never would have happened had I been that guarded. Somewhere in between is where I’ve landed. More guarded than the naive 20 something I was when I found this place, though, for sure.
