The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

It snowed, not a common occurrence at this time of the year even at this altitude, some three feet of snow.
What is unusual is that the internet and telephone have remained functional
It was minus 18 degrees Celsius at 6 am or so my minimum maximum thermometer says .
Oh, WOW! Where are you that you're getting that much snow and those cold temps???

She sounds like a wonderful cat! It's very cool she gets to go to work with dad!

That's wonderful that you donate so much. We do as well. I can't stand to have strangers pawing through my stuff; so I don't have garage sales. It's easier and a lot less work to just give things we don't need again away.

She is a very cool cat. If I were forced to choose only one, I do believe that it would be her. Fortunately, I don't have to.

I don't do the yard sale having thing, either. I don't want people around that close. Donating is easier, or selling stuff and item at a time on Marketplace or the like. I have peddled off job site leftovers successfully that way, too - stuff that can't be returned. But donating the household goods and unwanted (but still usable) clothing and other items makes so much more sense.

No shade on Spotify or other streaming services but they have changed the way music sounds.

If you queue up a song please listen to the whole thing, the artist doesn’t get paid if you bail in under 30 seconds, they get an apportioned payment for less than the whole song, but you can be guaranteed they get the full payment if the entire track plays.

It also helps a song to get promoted to the streaming services featured play lists which is like money in the bank. You can Google how artists are paid and listen accordingly.

Remember the long beautiful introductions? Think Stairway to Heaven or Hotel California; you don’t hear them any more because people hit the skip too fast.

So artists move the hook up to the beginning of the song and keep it short so you don’t bail before the end. $$$ It’s a business.

Music being produced today is no better or worse than 50 years ago, it’s a reflection of artists adapting to the monetary reality of the streaming world.

It’s no different than rock bands in the 60’s cranking out 2:30 songs for the A.M. market. You gotta play the game or be the “Unknown Artist” who never made it.
Funny how the game changes.

I like to listen to indie and punk rock music. Pretty much, by default., I think both of those genres defy all elements of commerciality.

If not already, AI will be making music to cater to the sandworms we crave.

I sure hope not.

Good morning early risers and good afternoon or evening to international denizens. Enjoy your strong coffee or tea as it is cold in the Great Lakes State with milder weather coming our way again.

Charity shops are a good concept, my only problem with them is that every time the wife loads up the car boot and trundles off to the charity shop to donate it, she comes back with more stuff that she bought there, because it was "such a bargain" and she always wanted one. A few weeks later she takes half of it back to donate it again. 🤔

My music preferences reveals my age a bit. As a young teen drummer my favorite group was The Dave Clark 5. In high school I began to enjoy the different sounds of the Beatles, especially Abbey Road. In college my favorites were many, especially the WHO, Santanna, Fleetwood Mac, Buddy Holly, Moody Blues, Bruce Springsteen to name a few.

I am now revisiting jazz and blues by John Lee Hooker, B B King, Oscar Peterson etc.

No more LPs and very few CDs as I listen to all on Pandora. My son is going to teach me about making my own music list.

Thank God for the next generation! Helping us folks out with our electronics and all!

One of several reasons that no wife-person is around me. I only do that in select venues, and usually the only commodity I took with me is cash.

I’m more of like an unhinged Muttley (remember him?), when things don’t work.

I could use a little more patience.

I do!!!

There are a few sprigs of Patience that have taken root in my garden, but not many. People who don't listen mold my cheese fastest.

I do, too! A friend of mine turned me on to them. I love David Draiman's vocals! The first song I heard from them was 'Sound of Silence.' Have you heard 'Don't Tell Me' with Ann Wilson? OMG! Two powerhouse voices!

His voice is absolutely insane. I don’t think he gets enough credit because he’s in a metal band

I'm seeing a back surgeon in a few hours to schedule surgery for spinal stenosis. Has anybody had the minimally invasive surgery and did it work?
I’m sure it will go fine!

While I’ve not had it done I have family in the medical field and I’ve heard of this procedure. The surgeon will walk you through it - it’s usually a very routine procedure
