If someone didn't ask you or people in general to DM them and you do, and then they don't respond, Why is is their fault? Do we have an obligation to respond to all unsolicited DM's? IMO, absolutely not. Maybe they looked at your profile and/or message history & weren't comfortable with something they saw, or maybe they just didn't feel like it. There could be a lot of reasons for it. The bottom line is, it was your choice to DM them, and it's their choice whether or not to respond. They have no obligation to explain it to you or anyone else.

I find this happens as an author too - I get all excited when I have a new 'follower' and then their profile is empty and they follow 800 other people. I'm usually pretty interactive with my followers...but not if you can't be bothered to fill out your freaking profile, I just assume you're a bot at that point.

I get a little annoyed seeing a post count but everything is in the politics board, or their posts just seem like bait to scold you for your opinions.

It's also a let down when they have over 500 2 words posts and don't have their own threads.

I never check the profile of someone that likes my post. I only check a profile when they post something that catches my interest. Unfortunately other people usually don’t check my profile before PM and hit on me regardless the fact I make it very clear I am straight.

Fuck I wish we could put the whole politics section on ignore. It’s like passing a wreck, I can’t help it when I see something that gets my blood pumping. I think I need an intervention.

Fortunately (I think) I can take the politics board as mere lightweight entertainment: if something riles me I may weigh in with some choice insults, then slip right out again and not really care.

The problem for me is that it’s full of stuff I care about. Unfortunately it comes with Lit. It’s like if a girlfriend is always talking politics.

What irks me more are blank profiles that have "no answer" for each catagory. I generally will not correspond with those people even if they like my stories or my posts
