Wat's Guns-N-Stuff Thread

If Wat were just keeping his groupies aprised of his morning coffee routines and car obsession, like he does on his GB diary thread, nobody would give a shit. After all, old guys like to obsess about their sleep cycles and bowel movements.

But, in his PB diary thread he got deeply into combining his gun obsession with his paranoia about the gummint, all during an era of daily gun violence in the USA. Bn2f had to step in and intervene at that point, at least until Wat is admitted into a nursing home.

I'm not faulting Bn2f for posting here. And most certainly not in the way they are. Goodness knows they don't have a fraction of the OP. He's in the thousands by now. His elk have a few thousand. They are very popular with themselves and like to hear themselves speak. But that's not unusual for those type of men. Shrugs.

Wat & co are doing the same thing here as they do there. Same echo chamber, same vapid content, same ol' same ol'.

I just wanna say how much I appreciate and respect you good citizens posting here in support of an end to daily senseless killings in America. Coati, your posts frequently add positive analytical weight to the topic and that intimidates the ammosexuals here. Pick any number of ways gun violence has affected America and I can give a personal example. I’m tired of the suicides, accidental shootings, and the intimidation and toxicity fostered by conceal and carry. I know from polling that more felt like me, like us, than them. Fear from lack of knowing anything on the use of guns made me initially avoid this thread. After the Maine shooting, I looked back through the thread and noticed how folks went silent after an event. I knew then who the real cowards were. It doesn’t have to be this way. Gun enthusiasts, first responders, and the police should be the loudest proponents of gun reform - not ever the surviving victims.

Shh, you might accidentally give away the secret code word.
So, far for me to say what that woman’s intent was, but I can tell you the line of argument that immediately came to my mind upon seeing.

Of Course the Constitution Has Nothing to Say About Abortion

There is no mention of the procedure in a four-thousand-word document crafted by fifty-five men in 1787. This seems to be a surprise to Samuel Alito.

I ordered an out-of-print coin grading book to replace the same one that I can't find. They sent me a child's early reader. Now I have to get that sent back. Meanwhile, I ordered another book. Go figure.

The VA guvnuh is mute and what he intends to do if-n-when the Strumgewehr Ban hits his desk, if it hits his desk. Two more weeks of waiting, I reckon.

I don't entirely agree with this guy, but:

Yeah, most of these guys are paid mouth pieces for some company pushing their particular firearm or ammo agenda.

I like the .45acp, I shoot it well and accurately. Look, I've never found the need to have 15 plus rounds in a magazine and 2 more spare 15 plus round magazines. I'm not Wyatt Earp, I'm not ever planning to engage in a running gun battle. My plan is to shoot no more than I need to to get myself and family out of the situation.

Do I own a 9mm handgun? Of course I do, among other calibers. I never carry it though. although I do enjoy shooting it.

I like a .45. I have a couple - a 1911 and a Glock full size. The Glock is comfortable to shoot in .45. Either is reasonably accurate, and I'm reasonably accurate with them. They're not much of a burden for EDC, either. I carry a spare mag for the 1911 and figure the Glock is good as is (13 + 1). If I need more ammo than that, I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings.

I also have a 1911 double stack in 10mm. I haven't got it all the way broken in for daily carry. It's a bit heavy but not bad to shoot. My full-size Glock 10mm is a bit of a bitch.

I do carry my 229 in 9mm sometimes. It's the easiest of the lot to carry and it's 13 + 1.

Choice is a nice thing.

Exactly, choice is a nice thing. Be proficient with and carry your pistol of choice.

I'm better with the AR.

I put myself on the "notify me when available" list for an M16A1 look-alike with a 1:7 twist barrel. I always liked the look and it's a 20" barrel.
We good? Yall two made up again? TH are you back at your rightful place - subservient?

The Empty Boat

By: Chuang Tzu

If a man is crossing a river
And an empty boat collides with his own skiff,
Even though he be a bad-tempered man
He will not become very angry.
But if he sees a man in the boat,
He will shout at him to steer clear.
If the shout is not heard, he will shout again,
And yet again, and begin cursing.
And all because there is somebody in the boat.
Yet if the boat were empty.
He would not be shouting, and not angry.

If you can empty your own boat
Crossing the river of the world,
No one will oppose you,
No one will seek to harm you.

The straight tree is the first to be cut down,
The spring of clear water is the first to be drained dry.
If you wish to improve your wisdom
And shame the ignorant,
To cultivate your character
And outshine others;
A light will shine around you
As if you had swallowed the sun and the moon:
You will not avoid calamity.

A wise man has said:
“He who is content with himself
Has done a worthless work.
Achievement is the beginning of failure.
Fame is beginning of disgrace.”

Who can free himself from achievement
And from fame, descend and be lost
Amid the masses of men?
He will flow like Tao, unseen,
He will go about like Life itself
With no name and no home.
Simple is he, without distinction.
To all appearances he is a fool.
His steps leave no trace. He has no power.
He achieves nothing, has no reputation.
Since he judges no one
No one judges him.
Such is the perfect man:
His boat is empty.

So, far for me to say what that woman’s intent was, but I can tell you the line of argument that immediately came to my mind upon seeing.

That ^ post is going to be "conveniently" ignored by the usual suspects.

(They saw it though, and that is all that matters.)

Side note:

If a person could go back to "the founding fathers" time with a fully kitted out AR-15, etc, (with a bump stock, a drum magazine, a suppressor, "glass", etc) in tow, and demonstrate its capabilities, I suspect "the founding fathers" would have had some objections to a weapon like that proliferating among the masses.

😑

There are "arms" and then there are "ARMS".

Just like there are different laws / rules depending on the size of a business, there should definitely be (and are) different laws / rules depending on the capabilities of a weapon. An AR-15, etc, with all of the above mentioned modifications definitely qualifies as something beyond "arms" and rises to the level of "ARMS" requiring specific restrictions to protect the public from those kitted out AR-15’s potential for inflicting mass casualties in the blink of an eye.

Side side note:

I actually am pro 2A, within the context of an individuals right to bear "arms" - but not "ARMS".
