I think they already do that at The Villages in Florida! 😅😅
Yeah I've read about that. It's actually not a new thing and pretty much goes on at most retirement communities. I interviewed a couple of staff members at some facilities in Nor Cal and STDs were a major concern. This was in the early 90s.

I've read they're rampant in The Villages.

Good morning earliy risers and insomniacs and international dwellers of this forum.

What a shock this morning as the iPhone did not charge! I think the port is shot. I jiggled the wire and it started to charge. I am probably getting a new phone today.

Viagra? it made for amazing intercourse with my late wife.

How about Viagra At The Retirement Home? 🤣🤣🤣
My neighbor and I started a hardcore band, called social security youth.

If it’s not too old, maybe you can just get the port cleaned and fixed. Mine was not charging either and last weekend. I took it to one of those places in the mall, and it works great.

Careful about going to a place that sell phones because they will try to sell you a phone. (of course you really need a new one.)

Same experience. My iPhone wasn’t charging. Figured it was time for a new phone or at least a new battery. I took it to the Apple Store and the guy cleaned the port and the charging problem was solved. I carry my phone in my pocket and lint had gotten in the port. Since I was already at the store, I had them replace my battery since it was almost 3 years old and had degraded to about 70%. It only cost $70. I’ll probably get 2-3 more years out of this phone.
Nice, they didn’t try to upsell you. My wife recently got a new phone at Verizon, and I actually had to get belligerent with the sales person.

Just upsell after fucking upsell.

“Do you think you’re helping me fucking save money by charging me more? I just want the fucking phone. You say this is gonna save me money?”

A little embarrassed, cuz I lost my shit a little bit in public, but I don’t suffer fools.

I sound like such a crank!

Leave me alone!

Hey you kids get offs my lawn!

Happy Friday!!!😀

My neighbor and I were gonna start a hardcore band called Social Security Youth.

I was thinking of starting two threads. One on jeapardy and trivia and one for made up band names.
Dave Barry always wrote ".... would be an excellent band name!"

I thought it was hilarious!

I agree with both of these. (Have used in the past, but the lint cleaning has to be done *carefully*, by someone who knows what they’re doing.)

Furthermore, even after I damaged my charging port (by trying to clean it stupidly), I just bought wireless charging pads, one for at home, one for my office, and a magnetic one for the car. (MUCH cheaper than buying a new iPhone!!!)

They're so alluring, these little computers we carry around in our pockets. I've kind of been jonesing for a new one but mine is only two years old. I should be able to make it for another two...

That's Verizon! I usually get my phones at Costco now. It's easy with no upsell. Although I ordered my current phone off the Samsung website.

I love my wireless charging pads! I have them all over my house now. I need to get one for the cars.

Mine is with me all the time. For my day job, it’s no problem.

But on our property, taking down trees, spitting firewood, using a chainsaw, it had tons of sawdust, dirt and lint in it.

It was a mess.

I usually get a good 4 years out of my phone.

My wife’s was really old. An iPhone 8. I wanna say from 2017/18??

They are expensive! I usually can get 4 years out of a phone. I'm planning for more out of this one as I really went all out when I ordered it. I don't need a flagship phone but I sure do want them! 🙄

And, now I feel a need to go through your pockets! 🤔😅

I carry lots of alluring things in my pockets Lilianna. 😉

Smart phones are alluring but expensive! My goal has always been to get 5 years out of a phone but I don’t think I’ve ever had one last more than 3. But now that I’ve figured out the port cleaning and battery replacement tricks, I might succeed with this phone.
What are y’all doing to only get three yrs out of a phone? Mine travels with me everywhere, on planes, trains, auto’s, and boats of varying sizes! It get treated to drops and heat and cold…

I’ve always managed to get at least 5 yrs if not six or seven!

A couple of months ago I got an iPhone 14. My first was a Motorola brick. In spring '04 I cut the cord forever.

Yesterday I got caught in the ATT meltdown. My phone is locked in SOS mode and my brother, the family Techie, and I can't get it unlocked. After breakfast I'll go to the ATT store.

This was getting me frustrated but then I realized that this is the first time I've had a meltdown with my cell phone. Not bad...walkaround cord free for 19 years and maybe 40 total...not bad.
