Whatever you think of Hillary Clinton's character you have to admit she did have much more leadership experience than Donald Trump in 2016. Trump had never held elected office before, and wasn't even very engaged in running his private businesses.

Clinton on the other hand was a former Senator and Secretary of State was was knowledgeable about the levers of power and taking charge of things. The electorate in 2016 clearly wasn't making an informed decision about who was more capable to lead.
