It wouldn't hurt if they backed off of the psychotic alcoholic law official, worn and beaten down by the atrocities committed by man. How about an average police detective trying to solve a mysterious case, a case that offers many clues, twists and turns, danger, and in the end, justice prevails.... just write a good mystery that satisfies the general audience. Not sure what they were going for last season....Women cops don't always have to be lesbians (although I like that) , male cops CAN have a good marriage, loving kids, etc....
Hollywood's been stereotyping cops for decades, even demonizing all of those who work in the South. For instance, Carroll O'Connor played a southern cop like only a New York liberal could.
