❌Monthly Song Challenge: Archived🎵

This one is hard, not because I don't understand the assignment, because this is one if my favorite things to think about... and now I have to choose ONE!!
I think half of the songs on my phone are on the playlist ‘Cover Party’. All tracks are covers of 80’s songs. I started compiling it for an 80’s party that never happened due to Covid. I wanted the music to be ‘new’ to all of the guests despite the wide range of ages.

Day 2: A song you want to be covered by a different genre

I absolutely love it when fast paced songs are slowed down and played acoustically. I also love it when heavy metal songs are covered by country artists and vice versa. Notice how I'm not mentioning multiple songs? I can be vague.

I really love this song just the way it is, but I wonder what it would sound like slowed down and covered by a bluegrass band or maybe even just acoustic.
I haven’t settled on mine yet but this is exactly the road I’m going down. Slowing down a song to enhance/alter its emotional hit is really my sweet spot for this sort of thing.

Work again. Have to catch up. I love this thread.

Day 30: A song that mentions a city name
Guns N Roses - Paradise City

Day 31: A song that is either partially or fully in a language other than English
Ramstein: Du Hast

Day 1: A song from one of the first albums you owned
Twisted Sister: We’re not Gonna Take It

Day 2: A song you want to be covered by a different genre
Taylor Swift - Blank Space (oh wait 😂)

Day 2: A song you want to be covered by a different genre

I adore the original and I would also love an angry rock version from a band like Halestorm or Dorothy.
Megadeth's version, the 2018 remaster with the original lyrics (the one on Killing Is my Bussiness was rewritten my Mustaine when he was in a bad place, and he rewrote it...poorly).

Day 2: A song you want to be covered by a different genre

The problem with this is I have so many covers by bands from different genres. I love the "Punk Does..." series, with punk and (mostly) post-punk bands taking on pop, country, classic rock, and the like. I have a punk tribute to Frank Sinatra that I love. "Little Red Corvette" as an acoustic blues song is a revelation. Me First (not Too, sorry) and the Gimmie-Gimmies are always on my playlist. Hell, I even liked the Disturbed cover of "Sound of Silence." So trying to find something not covered is a problem.

So let's see... I would like a stripped down, acoustic version of the lush Queen song, "Who Wants to Live Forever."

I think this song is already pulling some elements of the genre but I think a version that just goes 💯 torchy lounge song would be pretty cool.

I almost posted a Garbage song because they have been on heavy rotation for me lately, but it would be haaaaard to hear any of their songs a different way. I need to go see if their songs have been played with...

I love Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. 😍

Story: This came out when I was in high school and I so wished the choir I sang in could have done this. Just to give certain kids who were soulful to go HAM on it. Sadly, I did not know how to do the arrangement.
Oh, I miss Living Colour. Such an underrated band, and Vernon Reid is a genius.
