It may have been in line with characters, I'll concede on that point. But, the season was rushed, and the characters felt less three dimensional. It's like the step dads took George R. R. Martin's rich source material and wrote an addendum in crayola.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I could agree with this. It's clear that the broad strokes were Martin's plan, where the story was always going, but it felt like a lot of the connective tissue that would have made it feel earned and appropriate got blitzed through, leaving the ending feel like a sizzle reel rather than a conclusion.
