I love comments too, but they can feel rare. I only have one story that has what I would consider to be a lot of comments. The others are all a few at best.

165 is my record comment count for a story. Then a third of those were me replying so maybe just over 100.

Same. I even appreciate the ones that rip the story apart. It tells me I got them engaged to the point it pissed them off when my MC did x or y happened to them. Engagement on that level is rewarding.

Also very gratifying: when you publish a fourth instalment in a series, and you see the viewing and rating numbers for the first three go up.

(Less gratifying: that my new I/T story had twice as many views after an hour and a half as "Life and Death of the She-Wolf" has after a month and a half.)
