Isn’t it gratifying when…?

I like it when I post something new and they fave an older story. Not joking, it means that they found something they like that they may not have found without that new story.
Thank you for trying to get us back on track!

It's very gratifying to get a positive comment on an old story, especially one that hasn't received much love in a long time. It's a good reminder that you never really know how people will find your stories and it's fun when a seemingly forgotten one gets some love.

It's gratifying when you finish a story and can tell yourself, that was fun to do. With some of my stories I feel relief, because they often take me a long time and I'm eager to finish them. But with a few they're just fun to write the whole time. I had a blast with my silly Cuckolds and Incels story, for example. Last year, I had fun with my Mrs. Pillsbury stories, whereas Darkling Tower, which took me over 4 years to complete, was mostly a relief to finish.

It was gratifying last year finally, after almost seven years of writing stories, to place in a special theme contest. Even allowing for the high random factor that results from low vote totals, sweeps, and timing, it felt good to do that.

I love this. I've been getting hits, favorites and even a few comments on some of my older stuff lately. Very gratifying.

This too. I have a few stories that I feel i just threw together because they sounded like a fun idea. A couple are among my highest rated stories, but what gets me, is they all have over 10K views. Just knowing that many people are taking the time to look at my stories is so gratifying.

…over a couple of days, the same reader favorites each chapter in one of your series in order. Almost makes it worth the effort 😊.

I get this phenomenon from time to time, especially with the Jenna series. I've often watched readers read through the series in "real time" as they add each chapter to Favorites.

And yeah it's awesome.

More recently, a few have found The Devil And Angel Em after I tagged it as (spoilers) a connection to my latest story, Riders On The Storm.

I must check them out. I heard one of your FMCs is super hot (even without any demon DNA) 🤣.

I like that feeling myself, despite not caring much for outside validation in the grand scheme of things. Feels special.

But I have an even more silly 'guilty pleasure' that's somewhat related, and that is when a reader (preferably that has been on the site for a while already) either follows me or adds some of my work to their favourites despite only having a select few authors/stories on their lists, because I imagine these people are really picky and choses to only add the author's they truly love! Best is when it's something like "Member since: 2007, Following: 10 people." and the other 9 names besides mine are absolutely stellar authors. That's.. *Chef's kiss*

I even have a few regular commenters on my stories that have ONLY me on their following list. 🤭

Very much this. Especially when it's something in another category or otherwise unrelated.
Sort of disconnects it from the "Am I just on the mark for his or her kink" and makes it more "they like what I'm doing."

It probably means they found that chapter first, read it, enjoyed it, then decided to bookmark all the others.
You can tell if it is a true favorite or just added to a reading list. Go to their profile and look under their favorites. If your story/chapter is NOT listed, it was saved to their reading list. If it is listed, it’s a true ‘favorite.’

There are a couple of readers that favourite nearly every story I post...I really love those guys! It's nice to know I'm entertaining myself and a few others. Even when I'm getting low views and unfriendly comments, they keep my spirits up.

I can't say I've really paid attention to that when it happens. however, I did publish a rather long story ( Twelve Days of Christmas - 10 lit pages) and got this comment that felt good to read:
a long read

I don't usually come back to finish a story if I have to break off part way through. This one kept brining me back and I read it over 4 days. Excellent.

A nice ego stroke that.

Where are the comments?

I’ve made my peace with the lack of commenting in the presence of “Favorites".

Think of “Favorites” as an off-the-rack thank-you card, a pleasant expression of appreciation, but not taking a lot of creative effort. Contrast this against a blank card where you have to express your sentiment, using the right words, the right tone, your normal poor penmanship… you want it to be an honest gesture without sounding too fawning or maudlin. That’s tough.

I’d take my plaudits either way.

I love comments. I have had pages long ones.
