One has to wonder how long the farce in the Red Sea can continue. Last Tuesday a US navy destroyer shot down 12 Houthie drones. ONe has to wonder about how economically practical this strategy really is.

A $2M missile vs. a $2,000 drone: Pentagon worried over cost of Houthi attacks

“That quickly becomes a problem because the most benefit ... is in their favor,” one expert said.

As American warships rack up kills against Houthi drones and missiles in the Red Sea, Pentagon officials are increasingly alarmed not just at the threat to U.S. naval forces and international shipping — but at the growing cost of keeping them safe.

U.S. Navy destroyers have shot down 38 drones and multiple missiles in the Red Sea over the past two months, according to a Defense Department official, as the Iran-backed militants have stepped up attacks on commercial vessels moving energy and oil through the world’s most vital shipping lanes. On Saturday alone, the destroyer USS Carney intercepted 14 one-way attack drones.

Houthi leaders have said the attacks are a show of support for the Palestinians, and that they won’t stop until Israel halts its operations in Gaza. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Monday announced a new international maritime coalition to safeguard shipping and counter the attacks.

The cost of using expensive naval missiles — which can run up to $2.1 million a shot — to destroy unsophisticated Houthi drones — estimated at a few thousand dollars each — is a growing concern, according to three other DOD officials. The officials, like others interviewed for this story, were granted anonymity to describe sensitive operations and internal deliberations.

I think the better strategy is to hold Iran itself at risk if the attacks on international shipping continue. Of course, we would need a President with the balls to warn them. These attacks have affected the supply lines of the West including her at home.

Where's your post whining about the billions we give to Israel to protect themselves?

Biden 'heartbroken' that American believed kidnapped by Hamas is dead
"Jill (Biden) and I are heartbroken by the news that American Gadi Haggai is now believed to have been killed by Hamas on October 7. We continue to pray for the well-being and safe return of his wife, Judy," the U.S. president said in a statement released by the White House.

Judith Weinstein, the wife of Haggai, is still being held hostage in Gaza, according to Israeli media outlet Haaretz.

I thought you were convinced the US was already overstretched?

If Biden bombed the fuck out of the Houthis, or gave the Iranians a bloody nose - which you imply, possibly correctly, that he lacks the bottle to do - you’d be first here to condemn him.

If the massive power of the Israeli Armed Forces hasn't taken out their vastly inferior HAMAS counterparts, just who the fuck are they bombing?

The people still launching rockets at them???

🤔

The people still shooting at them???

🤔

The Hamas animal’s October 7th rape, torture, murder, and kidnapping operation was a declaration of open warfare (barbarism???) in the name of the Palestinian people who support them and who celebrate that heinous act.

🤬

Israel is under no obligation to cease hostility’s until and unless: the leaders of Hamas surrender or are killed, the Palestinian people acknowledge and accept Israel’s right to exist, and Gaza and the West Bank are disarmed.

Jordan's King Abdullah and Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said after a summit in Cairo on Wednesday that they rejected any Israeli move to expel Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, state media reported.

In a statement, both leaders also said the international community should pressure Israel to agree to an immediate ceasefire and allow enough aid into war-torn Gaza to ease the "tragic plight" of over 2 million people under siege there.

I'm sure all 2 million are shooting at Israeli missiles. 😒
of course they are not, and of course the human death toll is unacceptable. i don't think, either, it's debatable that hamas has to be destroyed, NOT Palestinian civilians, not Palestine, and NOT Israel. Israel cannot be allowed to hold power over Palestine once the warfare ceases, either.

Israel cannot be allowed to hold power over Palestine once the warfare ceases, either.

Considering Palestinians (and I do mean that to be all inclusive), etc, believe ALL of the “official" JEWISH (majority) state of Israel is part of “Palestine”, the only way Israel will not “hold power over Palestine”, is for Israel, as the "official” JEWISH (majority) State it currently is, to cease to exist.

🤬

This story explains it better than I ever could:

https://ciaotest.cc.columbia.edu/journals/fa/v90i6/01.html

It’s a long read, but worth it imho.

The parts where various Palestinian leaders have used weasel words to avoid recognizing Israel as THE Jewish (majority) state (homeland) is quite illuminating. The parts about Palestinians efforts to secure “Right of return" for refugees and their descendants from the 1948 exile, and the Palestinian efforts to defeat Israel by overwhelming it with Palestinian births is also quite illuminating.

😳

Interesting reading that matches my informed conclusions on the realities of the situation.

He's already supported and facilitated ethnic cleansing and genocide, sending "aid" packages over there. He even bypassed Congress once on the matter. There is no going back for Genocide Joe. He tries to send out mixed messages because of next year's election. Too late for that. He refused to take a much more cautious and conditional line all along in favor of giving Netanyahu's government and the IDF a blank check to do what it likes, knowing that AIPAC would approve and fill Biden's political purse with more $$$$$.

Not heartbroken by the deaths of Palestinians though, including thousands of children. They are "lesser", what the Nazis called "untermensch" (i.e. subhuman). I wonder if he's in favor of razing Gaza all over again in retaliation?

Yah, he's mentioned Palestinians and Israelis as well. But your bias doesn't let you see two things at once.

So, are those “dumb” bombs being dropped by Israeli aircraft with the most sophisticated targeting capabilities in the world more or less accurate than the THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of homemade rockets / missiles that have been / are being launched into Israel by the Hamas animals and their Palestinian "civilian" enablers???
"Dumb" bombs need not have laser targeting systems when used in mass quantities in densely populated areas.
The Israeli minister of defense called the Hamas rocket threat more psychological than physical.

Side note:

Equating Israel’s retaliation for the Hamas animal’s October 7th rape, torture, murder and kidnapping operation to German reprisals against villagers harboring a single escaped prisoner is a Derpy grade "dumb” bomb.
Attempting to dehumanize your opponents as "subhuman" or "animals" is something both AJ and Hitler regularly attempted.

Bottom line:

Neither Gaza nor the West Bank (and southern Lebanon) can continue to be launch platforms for rockets / missiles, and terror attacks like the Hamas animal’s October 7th rape, torture, murder, and kidnapping operation.

Excellent "Appeal to Emotion". You left out babies baked in ovens, though.

Gazan casualties now outnumber Israeli casualties by a ration of 17:1 per the latest reports from Reuters. Sure seems like disproportionate response to me!

Side note: Please don't embarrass yourself by claiming "Everybody know Hamas inflates casualty counts". That dog don't hunt anymore. Gazan health officials provide names and addresses of casualties to the Red Crescent (and more recently major news outlets) and have done so since 2015.

Calling Hamas “animals” is actually MORE than they deserve - and not fair to animals.

Apologies…

And I give less than zero fucks what Hamas says about anything.

😑

And as for the casualty count, well, maybe "NEXT TIME" (because the Hamas animals promised there would be a next time) the innocent "civilian” Palestinians will do something to prevent the Hamas animals from bringing such harsh retribution down upon them.

🤔

Of course, let’s not pretend that innocent "civilian" Palestinians didn’t participate in the October 7th "festivities”. - There’s video evidence of innocent “civilian" Palestinians participating (and celebrating). And let’s not pretend that innocent "civilian" Palestinians didn’t / don’t facilitate everything Hamas did / does.

🤬

Martyr mentality likely has some of those innocent “civilian” Palestinians engaging as willing human shields as well.

🤬

And let’s also not forget that the Hamas anima…sorry…raping, torturing, murdering terrorists’ whole plan was to elicit a disproportionate response from Israel by committing genocidal atrocities on October 7th

🤬

A Leon Trotsky quote:

"A slave owner who uses violence to shackle a slave in chains, and a slave who uses violence to break the chains. Let not the contemptible eunuchs tell us that they are equals before a court of morality."

All well and good.

But as you concede yourself in your penultimate paragraph the response is exactly what you say it is - disproportionate.

That was always going to be the case in the eyes of Israel haters, the usual left wing/student/ Muslim faction.

But now it begins to look disproportionate in the eyes of more reasonable people usually more inclined to give support, or at least the benefit of the doubt, to Israel.

I‘m a supporter of the Israelis in most circumstances - and absolutely support their need to smash into Hamas til they yield and if necessary the Iranians - but listening to some of you dodgy fuckers here dehumanising civilians, including kids and babies buried under rubble, based on their bloodline reminds me how programmed you are.
