A lasting power grid outage is the worst case scenario as power would probably be out for a minimum of 2 years. People who study this kind of thing expect that 90% of the US population would be dead after 1 year without power.

Which will not be the case, sure maybe a few pieces of switch gear drop put and few substations go off line, but without any wires down, or fires,or dam bursts, the system will be back up with a couple weeks for the residential customers. I doubt your military loses power for a second.

Anyone who's vehicle is inside a metal building, say like a multi rise apartment building that is a superstructure will most likely not be affected. The same as anyone who has gear in a steel shed or other metal type building. I suspect half the automobiles in the US will not be affected.

I’ve always believed living in a place you love is a huge quality of life issue and it has always been a high priority for me.

We even get the occasional bear walking through the yard. Nothing I’ve seen in cities begins to compare.

But if you need to feel like it’s about fear, that’s fine. Enjoy yourself.
