CBS News Correspondent Catherine Herridge Predicts a ‘Black Swan Event’ in 2024: ‘A National Security Crisis with Unpredictable High Impact’ (VIDEO)

By Jim Hᴏft Dec. 24, 2023 1:00 pm

During the year-end CBS News correspondents roundtable, Catherine Herridge, the network’s senior investigative correspondent, made a grim prediction for 2024, referring to a potential ‘Black Swan event’ – a national security crisis with unpredictable high impact.

A “black swan event” refers to an unpredictable or unforeseen event, typically one with extreme consequences. This term was popularized by Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his 2007 book “The Black Swan”.

Margaret Brennan, moderating the discussion, asked Herridge about her prediction.

Catherine Herridge, a seasoned reporter who has covered national security and intelligence for years, had an unsettling message regarding what the future might hold, especially under the Biden regime.

If anyone hits us they'll do it under Biden.

Like a coup attempt?

Damn, quoting the Gateway Pundit again. Can't you find a reliable source like Newsmax?

Clown, stop it and grow up. She is a highly regarded CBS national security reporter. I suspect she probably has sources that have expressed views or information that has led her to believe what she is saying. read it and weigh it, trash it if you think it has no merit. It's just her opinion based on her sources. I think it could be credible.

You're almost right, but tomorrow, Christmas, I'll be miles away with friends and family there to be among real men and normal women. I do hope you'll have as merry a Christmas as I'm going to have.

Yes, I'm sure you will and they will make you sad.

There are five specific flashpoints that have the potential to spill over. Obviously the Ukraine/Russian conflict, Israel/Hamas, the Gulf of Aden/Red Sea, Taiwan/China, and Venezuela/Guyana. Then there is the more generalized possibility of domestic terrorism sparked by Hamas sympathizers. The reporters concerns are well founded.

🙄

Catherine Herridge is an ex FAUX " news" garbage / manure spreader.

😑

Catherine Herridge is also facing contempt of court sanctions for failing to reveal a source in a case involving an alleged privacy violation by the FBI, - Catherine Herridge was working at FAUX "news” at the time.

RussiaGuide either believes, or is trying to gaslight others into believing, that legacy corporate media networks are "left wing".

If I were going to bet, I'd bet on an EMP attack... but only as a retaliatory measure. Since we seem hell bent on doing stupid things in several parts of the world, retaliation is certainly a possible motive.

EMPs have advanced significantly in ways they can be deployed and delivered. Russia's "Super EMP" is a small nuclear device intended to explode around 150 miles above the earth. It doesn't kill anyone, doesn't have fallout. The EMP effect might be large enough to cover the lower 48 with one weapon.

Delivery can be accomplished by normal missiles, satellites, or missiles loaded in cargo containers and fired from a ship - in which case it will be difficult or impossible to determine who the attacker is.

North Korea is believed to have the Super EMP and all of the above delivery systems. Iran, China, and of course Russia all have EMP tech... and probably a few others.

I do not believe it has been possible to fully test this kind of EMP, so its performance seems to be mostly conjecture and estimates. For example, I've seen numbers ranging from 100% of modern cars will be non-functioning to 70%.

A lasting power grid outage is the worst case scenario as power would probably be out for a minimum of 2 years. People who study this kind of thing expect that 90% of the US population would be dead after 1 year without power.

The reason I say it would probably only happen as a retaliatory strike is because America is seen as a desirable market, even by our enemies. Things would have to get really bad before they conclude that destroying America is a better option than selling it stuff.
5 megatons 300 miles over Manhattan Kansas.

Since when is CBS a reliable news source again, Jack?

Can you say Faraday cage, I think you can...

A national security crisis could be as simple as a refusal to be cannon fodder or guinea pigs. DC flunkies might refuse to throw themselves under buses. The world might just stop buying US debt. Thirsty nations might outbid the US for all the oil. And plenty more that don't need explosions, just a "screw you, we have better options."

With so many fragile interconnected systems and breaking supply chains, we are set up for cascade failure. One crisis starts another, or five more, and fwoosh, we have fireworks.
