For all practical purposes and having hunted with both, there is little difference. I took a 300-yard quartering shot at a bull Elk some years back. The 7mm 175-grain Nosler Partition bullet broke the left front shoulder and I found the bullet deep into the right rear quarter about two inches under the hide. The Elk went down like a stone. My dad favored the 7mm 160-grain Nosler and he would drive that bullet at about 3200 ft/sec. and used it on just about everything in the lower 48.Yeah, well, they just toss that drivel out there like clues are had and that all words are facts. Apparently, Mommy was too lenient in too many cases.
Been doing a bit of reading on 7mm Rem Mags vs. .300 Win Mags. I don't see much of a case to buy another rifle/cartridge to split these hairs.

It's turned around over the years. Army is dominating the rifle matches while the Marines are dominating the pistol matches. When I was shooting highpower, the jarheads always won the big match. I never met any army shooters, but the jarheads stick with it in some cases. An old staff sergeant showed me a couple of things when I was new (we both shot M1As when everyone else was shooting ARs), but he gave it up as his scores stagnated because his eyes were not cooperating.
Yeah, and besides, this thread ain't really about hunting, anyway [wink, wink].My dad didn't hunt.

Event changes mostly. With rifle the 'hot shit' events are 3-gun and the Sniper Competition. With pistol it's more IDPA style competitions. The old school 'bullseye' matches are passe'.So, I guess that it's been awhile. I haven't kept up with any rules changes, either.

No, it's about firearms and baiting you whiney bitches, and it has succeeded amazingly well.Yeah, and besides, this thread ain't really about hunting, anyway [wink, wink].
The .300 Win Mag is a damn good round and it will take heavier bullets than a 7mm Mag but the question is, do you really need to have your shoulder slapped that hard in the lower 48?Thank you for that. I have never heard anything like a negative report on the cartridge. I happened to get to the .300 WM first, and I got a deal on that rifle (and the long pending proposed conversion, too), so here I am.

Baiting who for what exactly? We're literally laughing at you and your erectile dysfunction. No, it's about firearms and baiting you whiney bitches, and it has succeeded amazingly well.

Personally, I rarely take a shot beyond 350 yrds or so. I try and confine my shots to the maximum point-blank range of the load and bullet I'm using. So, in the case of the .284 175 gr spitzer loaded at 2900 FPS I know if I'm an inch and a half or two high at 100yds the bullet will fall somewhere along a nine-inch vertical line at 360 yards the maximum point-blank range for that bullet and velocity. No, probably not, unless it's a long fucking way away. I'm generally not all that averse to recoil anyway. I think of it as a rather large shove.
For anything out to 500-600 yards, the littler stuff should do what's around where i am. My last shot was at 200 yards. Fucker went down and stayed down.
It's more like intimacy dysfunction. Kioti struck out with both women and men, so the only things left for him to caress are his guns, his own cock, and his suck-up posts to the wannabe militia guys. A lot of old boomers come to Lit to try to get laid, but end up jerking off to military hardware. Their problem all along was conflating sex with power, so it's natural most people don't want to engage in sex with them.Baiting who for what exactly?
