Actually, you should be grateful that your ancestors paid the price for you to be here. If you’re not, the smart thing to do is to go somewhere that will make you happier.

Living in a place that you love and enjoy is a huge quality of life issue, and one that we have control over.

When you say "go somewhere else I'd be happier", you mean AFRICA, right?

The US Constitution guarantees me the same rights as you, regardless of my skin color or place of ancestral origin. It guarantees me the right to be vocal in asserting my rights. It does not force me to choose between accepting second class treatment or "going somewhere else."

What I'm complaining about is people who think they are "more American" than someone else, which is WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT.

True. My only point is that what happened in the past has no relevancy to what's happening now. Referencing something which no one alive today had any involvement in and using that as a basis for claiming some intangible moral high ground doesn't cut it.

What I'm complaining about is people like you who think I should be grateful that my ancestors were forcibly brought here and now I should be HAPPY just to be here, and should be willing to accept lesser status and lesser rights and worse treatment than the non-colored people who have greater claim to being "American" than anyone else because they stole the place from the people who were already here.

As for "lesser status" and "lesser rights" that's a flat out lie. You have the same rights as everyone else. In fact, because of your specially protected minority status you actually have MORE rights than your non minority neighbors. You get special preferences, treatment, and legal/social/political standing merely because of who you are. Being bitter about things that didn't happen to you and using that bitterness as a sword to try and hurt not only your neighbors but the nation you're a citizen of, is dumb. No one is hurting YOU. If it ever occurs that someone does hurt you, then you have the ability to use the tools granted to minorities to stop it.

Further, if your neighbors and the people you meet on the street act like anal retentive idiots, then let them. No one is forcing you to jump off the cliff of anti social behavior with them. History resonates everywhere and everyday. There’d be no long running disputes, even in the Middle East and no acts of revenge, no politics based on 2000 year old books. No difficulties with dealing with China and Russia as their grievances over their place in the world would be forgotten.
