Criticism towards Luke's character doesn't stand in my opinion and the comparison with Leia and Han doesn't make sense. Han is an adult who has seen the world and has been through a lot. He is a formed person. Leia is a princess and has no doubt seen much of the world, probably had an excellent education, and has been involved in politics since her teenage days. Luke is a teenager living in his shell, who besides the fact that he lives on a backwater planet, hasn't matured at all, and has seen nothing of the world. Boys mature slower in addition to all that, yada yada. But throughout the movies, he is the character that grows the most, going from an insecure teenager to a man who faces his demons and carries great responsibility on his back. And it is done gradually and convincingly.
I must say I don't get this logic where you praise the characters who at the beginning of the movie are already well-formed and defined and can't grow much during the course of the movie(s)
Han does grow in the sense of trust, of believing in something greater, and in the sense of love. Leia, as cool, as sweet, as brave, as smart, as lovable as she is, grows the least, by far.
