Sex & Shenanigans

Die Hard is set around an office Christmas Party, thus making it a Christmas adjacent film making it perfectly acceptable to watch for the season.
“Adjacent” is a more apt definition/connotation and watching it now is perfectly fine, we can agree on that. But Christmas movies are supposed to have at least one Christmas-related lesson in them, and the only lesson in Die Hard is “don’t jump off Nakatomi Plaza in slow motion”. The fact that it’s set at Christmas is a coincidence, not a factor in the movie itself.

Christmas is central to the plot in Die Hard. Hans and the boys deliberately choose the day of the Christmas party for the heist because the building will be low staffed and most people will be in one place.

More than that though, it's a Christmas movie plot. Hard working guy who isn't really looking forward to Christmas has an experience which makes him realise that family and togetherness are the most important things. It even snows at the end, admittedly it's barer bonds rather than snowflakes but it still snows.

I don't know, I think you could reasonably argue "love makes us do crazy things" is a pretty standard Xmas film trope and you can't say raiding a building full of terrorist to save a spouse, especially an estranged one, isn't a crazy thing.

I think don’t mess with John McClane’s family is the message 😂

I don’t think I’ve ever liked you more.

Work day finished shit, stressed to fuck and this is after a doctors appointment yesterday telling me I have to avoid stress like the plague. Don't drink or smoke anymore which would be go to's. Stick my headphones on and play song guaranteed to lift any mood, I am almost skipping down the road the second the horns start, smile on my face, the world is ok after all 😍
