The Israeli Defense Force currently holds a 9:1 innocent civilians killed advantage, but one area of the war where Israel is absolutely annihilating the competition is their attack on journalists.

Historical perspective:

• 63 journalists killed in Vietnam by both sides
• 69 killed in World War II by all parties
• 70 killed in Gaza by Israel alone

how can there be any sense of moving forward if Israel is still holding onto so many Palestinians? I don't suggest the release of terrorists, or war criminals, but of all the 'regular' people caught up in the decades' long struggles.

Hamas is a pose, it’s a cloak for a militant Islamic gang to profit off the current situation.

It also empties the bins, keeps the lights on - sometimes, and is the law.

And, no different to a gang in LA or Johannesburg, it can look especially appealing to the young, male and lacking direction types who see it as “macho” and profitable.

And I guess, if you’ve been humiliated then bombed the shit out of, it can also look like the only way to resist.

The tactical military defeat of Hamas is one thing, but how do you drive out, or at least suppress, the Hamas mentality from the region is the real question here. It’s a lot harder than seizing weapons, destroying tunnels and offing numbers of their street fighters.

Hamas was supported by Netanyahu against Fatah. This is hardly a secret. This had two aims, i.e. division between Hamas and Fatah, and Hamas being Islamic fundamentalists instead of the largely secular Palestinian Liberation Organization, so adding a sectarian factor into the conflict.

Negotiators are working to extend the truce and swap of captives by each party. The international group is also said to be discussing post war expectations.

Diaa Rashwan, head of Egypt’s state information services, said negotiations to extend the cease-fire and release more hostages have made progress and that it is “highly likely” another extension will be announced Wednesday. Egypt, along with Qatar and the U.S., played a key role in mediating the original cease-fire and a two-day extension announced Monday.

I still think more pressure should be put on Hamas to surrender. All the pressure seems to be towards Israel even though they are releasing far more people.

But before they gained their freedom after being held for more than 50 days by the Iranian backed terror group, hostages were confronted by Palestinian civilians who shouted "Allahu Alkbar" and blocked Red Cross vehicles from quickly exiting. According to local reporting, the Egyptians had to essentially rescue the hostages as they were being harassed and threatened with death.

Meanwhile, recent polling from the Arab World for Research & Development shows the vast majority of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank approve of the October 7 massacre of more than 1400 Israeli civilians in their homes, at a music festival, in bomb shelters and elsewhere.
