What are you mounting that new scope on?
Belay that post, it makes no difference what you mount it on. I know from our previous discussions what your primary use of the rifle is so the below link applies. Learn MPBR (Minimum Point Blank Range) zeroing methods. I know that once you have the rifle zeroed you can set the turrets on the Vortex to 0/0. Once that is set then adjusting for ranges outside MPBR is a snap.

MPBR

This one is for the new AR10. All 7.62 an' shit. I anticipate its uses to be under 500 yards, basically. In the realm of a small bean field, but the new upper should handle the bigger bean fields.

In case the Amish get uppity . . . .

Here's something some of you might be interested in.

Texas passed a law saying a suppressor made in Texas, that remains in Texas, is not subject to Federal law, ATF enforcement, etc, because if it doesn't cross state lines it's none of their business. Mississippi followed suit with its own similar law. Of course the courts will have to be involved and the odds they will rule correctly are never better than a coin toss.

Still, an interesting development that has the potential to affect a lot more than suppressors.
Being Ingram Texas I've been following this since signed along with constitutional carry 2 years ago. It's still going through the courts and unless someone wants to test it by being arrested like someone did in Kansas under a similar law it'll be a while.

So, like if a person was born a slave in Texas and never left Texas it's none of the Federal law's business?

Yeah. That seems to be the way that the court has stalled it so far. Essentially, they want someone to stand up and say, “I’ve committed a crime” before they are willing to entertain it in a court.

Yet another example why, “it’s the law” is one of the weakest possible arguments when discussing what is right and what is wrong.

"Legal" and "right" aren't even 10th cousins.

I agree. That's why I oppose right-wing justices interpreting the 2nd Amendment so liberally. Most people know what is wrong with allowing just about anybody to obtain military grade weapons.

Select fire is only good for suppression imo too uncontrollable, still fun to shoot though and have. GAU-5 and M-2

So, I have this 30.06 I can't shoot anymore because of my spine issues. I can get a factory original barrel in 25.06 for about $200 shipped.

I could then take the action and new barrel to a 'smith and have him thread the new barrel for a brake and install/headspace/etc.

Voila, almost instant funzies for about $500. Hmmm...

Schrödinger's gun is sometimes a fun toy and sometimes a serious tool. It flickers back and forth between the two states depending on the rationalization for owning it.

I'm not a Glock guy. I never have warmed up to plasti... er... polymer guns. Maybe that's why I'd never heard of a "Glock switch" until I ran across this video a few minutes ago:

To me a full auto pistol isn't appealing because it seems like it's going to get empty too fast and it's probably going to go through a lot of ammo and a lot of barrels while you're learning to be proficient and maintaining that proficiency. Still it's an interesting little niche of "Gun World" I thought some of you might find interesting.
Really? Maybe, you strike me more of a M249 kind of guy!

I doubt if there’s any kind of appetite for silencers even I Texas.

In keeping with my ammo restrictions any one have any input on a AR10 in 6.5 creedmore??

This month's score is an AR10 in .308 and a 6.5 upper. Picked the rifle up yesterday and the upper is shipped and should be along shortly. It'll be a few months before I can do anything with them, but that's a matter of geography. Wat got the match grade stuff in each.

So, yes.

Silencer Shop one of the biggest silencer retailers in the country is located near Austin. There is quite a market for them.
Once you've shot suppressed it's hard to go back.

Some of us like are hearing. Btw, a silencer only brings the noise level down to around 130db, about the level of a jackhammer, not like the movies at all. The closest I've ever heard the sound like they use is when I fired a .22lr point blank into a haybale.

They ought to be available everywhere for hearing safety reasons alone. Like Starfire says it isn't like they will "silence" any centerfire rifle or pistol, they are suppressors.

You'll get no argument from me. I've been shooting suppressed stuff my whole life. I'm quite familiar with what a can will and won't do.

Maybe you could put a brake on your .30-06 and use reduced recoil ammunition. Remington and Hornady make such ammunition:

What is the weight of your AR-10? I have a friend who has one and it weighs about 11 pounds with a scope installed. I'm not sure of the manufacturer of his rifle.

I don't have a problem with it, hope it works for you. All my range shooting has been with standard hearing protection or the military pencil erasers LOL. I reside in MA so we have our own battles going on. These bleeding heart liberals are trying to either ban all weapons and magazines or tax the living shit out of them. Good luck unless it already has passed in your favor.

I've never fired a weapon with a silencer. Get caught with a silencer in MA could result with a lengthy tour of one of our gulags.
