Wat is pretty good with tables and trivia. All we're trying to do is to have a Reasonable Chance.
When we hear a gun-nut referring to himself in the third person while talking at length about his sniper scope, it evokes an image of Lee Harvey Oswald with multiple personality disorder.

Waaaaait a minute.
Are you saying that referring to oneself in 3rd person is a red flag to psychologists on a person possibly suffering from dissociative identity disorder (DID)??dissociative identity disorder (DID)???

I mean usually we attribute that to dickishness but I’m willing to listen to your theorizing.

Close but no cigar. 1 mil-rad is 36" at 1000 yds, and 1 MOA is 10.4" at 1000 yds.

I went with mildot and front focal plane with the latest scope. The front focal plane works for range finding. I'm still working on getting the mil-rad math to translate into clicks but I'm getting there.

Told you I wasn't sure about the numbers. It's been a long long time and I wasn't all that proficient with the numbers even back then.

And that will be your first step on the road to shooting hell. Once you get that range finder you'll have to start memorizing your range tables. Then you figure out that wind plays a role and by golly you need a pocket anemometer. But all that information just won't work with that crosshair scope so now you need an EBR style reticle for the scope. And once you've absorbed all that you now realize that temperature and barometric pressure all play a role too so soon enough you've got a portable weather station and all that is before you start figuring in coriolis effect and spin drift. In the end you end up with a scope that provides WAY too much information, a portable weather station, and a masters degree in ballistic mathematics. :D

You forgot to mention the mule to carry it all.

I hung my shiney new Henry up over the fireplace this weekend. I can sit and stare at it all day!
I'd like to get a double barrel rabbit ear shotgun for a wall hanger. Missed my chance walker this year when saw 1 at pawnshop for $300. Thought it was a little high and didn't want to spend quite that much for "home decor".

This thread has officially jumped the shark.

I don’t think it can get any more embarrassingly pathetic than those two posts.
If it weren't for the resident paranoid conspiracy theorists talking about disarming federal law enforcement officials and whipping the asses of cops, we might consider moving this thread to the Fetish and Sexuality Central board.

They must have to clean the semen off their "firearms" every day.

You're just jealous that we have something we can hold in our hands before we blow a load instead of an onlyfans fantasy.

Years ago my neighbor used to shoot deer with a .22-250. It’s a bit lighter than most people want for that job, but he focused on good bullet placement and was very successful with it.
I have a friend in Utah who has killed deer every year for many years with a 223. I have a .223 but I only use it on varmints. I've killed deer with a .30-30, .308, 7MM Mag, .30-06, .300 Win Mag, and a few Elk with the 7MM Mag and the .300 Win Mag. I prefer to land at the maximum point-blank range with as much energy as possible for a clean and humane kill.

^^^Further admission of his ammosexuality fetishes.

I thought this thread officially jumped the shark earlier today, but Harpy proved me wrong.

NOW this thread has officially jumped the shark.

JFC

SAD!!!

Belay that post, it makes no difference what you mount it on. I know from our previous discussions what your primary use of the rifle is so the below link applies. Learn MPBR (Minimum Point Blank Range) zeroing methods. I know that once you have the rifle zeroed you can set the turrets on the Vortex to 0/0. Once that is set then adjusting for ranges outside MPBR is a snap.
