AI Allegations Thread

I didn't even use MS Word. I typed it directly into the New Story box here, which does helpfully underline in red if I happen to misspell something. But there's no grammar or style checking. And 31 of my stories were pulled after readers reported them. I am not speculating as to why they were reported, because I don't have that info, but the rejection form accompanying them was the boilerplate form claiming AI content.
Dude. (Or girl, as appropriate.) Use at least Google Docs. That entry blank can , will, and has lost its entire text for people in the past.

I asked a friend their opinion:

AI in writing stories can efficiently generate diverse narratives and explore unconventional plotlines, but it often lacks the human touch necessary for deeply emotional and profoundly insightful storytelling.

AI, with its ability to process vast amounts of data and mimic patterns, can generate stories across various genres and styles. It can create innovative plots and characters that might not occur to humans naturally. However, what AI often lacks is the depth of emotional understanding, personal experiences, and empathy that humans bring to storytelling. These elements are crucial in creating narratives that resonate deeply with readers, as they connect on a more profound level with the human experience. While AI can assist and enhance the creative process, the human touch remains integral in crafting truly impactful and emotionally rich stories.

AI's capacity to assist in writing stories lies in its ability to analyze vast datasets, identify patterns, and generate content based on learned structures. Through machine learning algorithms, AI can even simulate different writing styles, genres, and character interactions. However, its limitations often revolve around creativity that stems from emotions, personal experiences, and unique human perspectives.

Human writers draw from their lived experiences, emotions, and diverse perspectives, infusing their stories with authenticity and depth. This emotional depth is challenging for AI to replicate authentically, as it lacks genuine feelings, empathy, and personal experiences.

While AI-generated stories might excel in creating diverse scenarios and imaginative plots, the emotional connection and nuanced understanding of the human condition are often what distinguish compelling narratives. Thus, combining AI assistance with human creativity and emotional depth could lead to more innovative and engaging storytelling.

They are getting a little repetitive, methinks.

There's a really identifiable smarminess coupled with an eagerness to please in the way it responds to prompts and questions. Not enough lumpiness and ugliness in the prose

I’m going to be launching ChatEMILY soon.

Laurel has agreed that AH can act as a beta test.

The idea is that the agent floods the forum with inane nonsense and innuendo, while calling everyone “hun.” It’s also got a special flirt with @onehitwanda sub-module, which I’m particularly excited about.

That leaves me free to go do some work.

In my story "Training Libby" I invented "Kahn's Impersonation Inequality", where the (fictional) AI pioneer Hal Kahn proves, using Godel's Theorem, that No AI can be developed that can pass the turiing test against itself.
Which one of Godel’s two theorems, hun?

See? This is what AI writing sounds like.

Okay, you win. I am going to crawl into the shower and lay down in the fetal position now, hoping to wash some of the fuckery away from my brain. 💙
These spoiler buttons aren't working for me, alas. Or I don't know what to do with them.

does it know how to whisper mathematical bon motts while fluttering its eyelashes suggestively?

Cos that would be a nice feature.

I’m trying to train it. It doesn’t always respond well to the lash.

Em
then it will not pass the Turing test. Send it for reeducation!

Edit: I spent a couple of minutes trying to think of some sort of punny alternative for the Turing test that would be specific to you. But I'm all out of Nerd juice tonight 😿
