"The Court cannot take judicial notice that a shotgun having a barrel less than 18 inches long has today any reasonable relation to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia, and therefore cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees to the citizen the right to keep and bear such a weapon."
United States v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939)
Yet now 14" rifle barrels are now standard on military rifles but the NFA standard 16" hasn't changed. It's like everybody forgot about this case.
The key to understanding the flawed findings of Miller is the court's view that a sawed-off shotgun having no military utility precluded its protection under the Second Amendment, which implies that those that do have military utility are protected under Miller.:D

Sir! Thank you for citing this! The plaintiffs in US v. Miller argued that sawed off shot guns were different than regular shot guns, thus the argument relating to the length in inches. The court ruled, as you have citied, that the 2A DOES NOT guarantee the average citizen the right to keep and bear, what we know today as, military grade or weapons of mass destruction. Unfortunately, for you and I, and defenseless children in schools, and all of the US of A, US v. Miller has been replaced by Scalia's decision in Heller.

Wouldn’t it be nice if people could have a thread about hobbies they enjoy without dumb fucks posting just to be dick heads.

I love that my comments seemingly shut down the most toxic thread here for hours at a time. Love love love it!
Hope it inspires smarter people than myself to also make you fear to pop your head here and have your gun logic sniper blown to pieces. I hope you feel the fear of words in this safe space as parents feel the fear of sending their children off to school and or the people of Maine sitting in a bar, eating pizza and bowling.

Ever wonder why under Obama the feds bought millions of rounds of ammunition for federal agencies and targets that included children, pregnant women, and the elderly? I don't wonder at all.

I never wonder about things like that, nor delusion, nor fear and the hate spawned by it. I do wonder about what seems to be becoming The Great Divide.

Some day, maybe we should thread about who's in charge and who really isn't in charge. Meanwhile:

My favorite restaurant is in Maine, and enjoying pub food, me and the wife eat inside the bar area of the restaurant a lot, and I do not fear being there. But then again, I always carry a 9mm for protection. It is NOT against the law. As long as you are not drinking, you can have a firearm in a bar in Maine.

As CNN found out, I am not the only one. During the Maine onslaught, they were taken back when interviewing everyday Mainer's who said they wished they had guns while on live TV. But that is how it works. When confronted, you realize you can't bring a knife to a gun fight.

I took a Springfield Allin conversion type 1 to school once as the AV part of a research presentation. Nary word was said from leaving the house that morning until returning that night.

This kind of bullshit is your justification for sucking up to the sovereign citizen crowd on Lit?

Sir. I will extend polite courtesy to you and say that I do not understand the meaning or purpose of this particular message in regards to gun safety or reform.

Wannabe miltiamen and "sovereign citizens" are the ultimate glibertarians. These fools assume that their individual power interests should supercede general welfare objectives in America's founding documents.

This illustrates the difference between Amerika and America.

You haven't figured out by now that everything you say is wrong?

Dam, talk about someone being a tad slow...
