I agree. Keeping firearms out of the hands of mentally ill and dangerous people is a far more realistic way to address mass shootings than pie in the sky dreams of repealing 2A and confiscating hundreds of millions of guns. Due process and medical privacy laws are complex challenges for sure, but shouldnt be insurmountable.
You honestly believe raising taxes helps with revenue shortfalls? Not a snowball's chance in hell. Our politicians use our tax money like a drunken sailor on a 48 hour weekend pass. All giving them more ever does is let them spend more.Yes, that will also help with revenue shortfalls.
Tax the shit out if ammo. That should stop some of smug behavior we see out of the assholes who act as if 2A prevents any effective regulation.
When a doctor declares you unfit to have a weapon. It's more problematic than you think.
What exactly constitutes "mental illness"? As we've seen from the transgender craze, "mental illness" is a moving target subject to change based on social and political winds. What is "mental illness" one week, isn't the next. And vice versa.
I would not give two shits about this ^^^stupid Deplorable argument. Tax the hell out of ammo and earmark the revenue to help the victims of gun violence. You honestly believe raising taxes helps with revenue shortfalls? Not a snowball's chance in hell. YAWN... Oh look folks a lib wants Big Brother to spy on you. You really are nothing but a puppet on a string.I would not give two shits about this ^^^stupid Deplorable argument. Tax the hell out of ammo and earmark the revenue to help the victims of gun violence.
This gun violence is encouraged by assholes like you, HisArpy, Chobham, and Wat_Tyler who promote the myth that automatic and semi-automatic weaponry is just "fun stuff" (title of this thread), and that federal agents should be disarmed.
Federal agents actually need to take heed that Literotica is hosting this nonsense and those who are making these statements about law enforcement during the worst era of mass shootings in American history.
Actually the greatest mass killings in the history of the US were committed by the military against Native Americans. Thousands were killed during the expansion westward. Wounded Knee being one of the most well known where 300 Native Americans were slaughtered by the US Army. Here are the deadliest mass murders in America

Now comes the fun part. Scroll through them and find out what type of weapon was used. Explain why we see what we see.
I agree with all the societal issues you mentioned, and I don’t think red flag laws by themselves are the be-all end-all solution. That said, it makes sense to me to remove guns from people that are mentally unstable (with due process of course). It won't help. So far as I know no red flag law has worked to prevent a mass shooting or other similar event.
The problem, no matter how you slice it, is that we have too many mentally ill people running around out there without supervision in a society which has glorified violence through gaming, entertainment, music, and social media.
And? Your point? Be careful....you are being set upActually the greatest mass killings in the history of the US were committed by the military against Native Americans. Thousands were killed during the expansion westward. Wounded Knee being one of the most well known where 300 Native Americans were slaughtered by the US Army.
Then there's Waco and the Branch Davidians where 82 were killed by US government forces, including women, pregnant women, and children. Of course most weren't shot, they were burned to death.
Golly it wasn't so long ago that the federal government bought targets for their LEOs that included pregnant women and children.
Understood. I’m not dismissing your points. In this case, the sister in law observed dangerous behavior and he was hospitalized for mental illness. A fair hearing before a judge to secure his weapons and ammo for a fixed period of time might have prevented this. It's more problematic than you think.

Great....let's do it. Call your Senators and Representatives and say you want something done.Understood. I’m not dismissing your points. In this case, the sister in law observed dangerous behavior and he was hospitalized for mental illness. A fair hearing before a judge to secure his weapons and ammo for a fixed period of time might have prevented this.
There is no set up. Your information is incorrect. The greatest shooting massacres in US history were perpetrated by the government. End of story. And? Your point? Be careful....you are being set up
Cool, I at least got you to separate yourself from Wat, Chobham, and HisArpy on that particular point.By the way, find a single negative post that I made about law enforcement. No data, no proof, shut the fuck up. And no that's not hypocrisy, because it's not your opinion, you are stating it as a provable fact.
I have my opinions on law enforcement of course. Mostly positive on the local level. While I can't say the same for those at the federal level I do not in any way wish them any harm.Cool, I at least got you to separate yourself from Wat, Chobham, and HisArpy on that particular point.
Yeah. Why the fuck does the IRS need guns?
To garnish your wages?
Assisted agent suicide?
That's what should be illegal.
They should in no way be a law enforcement arm of the government.
It's bad enough that they're already a hand out looking for handouts at the figurative point of Mao's barrel...
If they qualify as 'police officers' then they're #3 on the top ten list of suicides by profession.
It needs to be #1 by a huge margin . . . .
There may be some merit in disarming the FBI.
Bless your heart. You just broke Stormfront rank with JoePepsiCo, Chobham, and Wat_Tyler.I have my opinions on law enforcement of course. Mostly positive on the local level. While I can't say the same for those at the federal level I do not in any way wish them any harm.

100% true, but where do we limit that discussion? Do we also bring in the war of 1812, the Civil war, or how about WW1 and WW2. Korea? Vietnam? Or do we accept those happened in the past, and have nothing to do with civilians shooting their fellow country men and women. The greatest shooting massacres in US history were perpetrated by the government. End of story.
Thanks for that background. In this case, there should have been no need for a red flag law. The law didn’t work as it should have.He was referred for observation by the Army and was committed to a mental hospital/ward.
At that point in time his name should have been entered into the NICS database and any match should have generated a warrant to search and seize his guns.
Those are the laws which already exist and which DO NOT WORK despite the Left constantly trying to impose them all over again while saying that's what we need to stop mass shootings.
Fact: The laws already exist.
Fact: The laws do not work.
Anyone saying that we need more laws needs to understand that if the laws we have don't work, adding more laws will not change anything. It's not the law, it's the incompetent people charged with enforcing the law.
It is almost like the mentally ill and criminals don’t obey gun laws. Thanks for that background. In this case, there should have been no need for a red flag law. The law didn’t work as it should have.
Drug addict adult children of Biden don’t obey them either. It is almost like the mentally ill and criminals don’t obey gun laws.
