Starting around 2300 CDT, there was about an hour where it seemed like the whole Internet was down. My main service (Spectrum) is still down; I'm on my cellphone hotspot at the moment. This sort of thing happened a few years ago where there was an attack on the DNS infrastructure. We might be reading about it in tomorrow's tech news.

I dunno. Our ISP remains down, and the ETA has been changed from "resolved by 11:00 CDT" (last night) to "we're working quickly". Obviously I'm still on the hotspot.

Semi-funny - two years ago we had an outage like this in our region, it was from a farmer mowing down a fiber trunk access point. Took two days to fix, and you can still see the hacked repair the company made. The cable company here is going to get some stiff competition real soon; I have an appointment scheduled in December for a direct fiber drop to the house. What we're waiting on is the fiber company installing the distribution trunk down our street. They're promising 500/500, which is fantastic.
