Definitely. My Aunt Tina series was supposed to be about a very oversexed aunt who uses her nephew to provide a steady stream of young men for her appetites. Instead it became romantic and monaganous between aunt and nephew. But still pretty spicy.

Never. Romance [in writing, television, in real life, etc.] disgusts me and I wouldn't write it even intentionally.

So I sat down to write a quick, steamy scene just to get it out of my system… and somehow three hours later I had developed full backstories, unresolved tension, and a soft-burn romance between two deeply broken people who make each other whole.
Does this happen to anyone else? You go in with the intent to write heat and end up with feelings? I’m torn between editing it down or just giving in and posting it as a longer-form story.

Quite the opposite for me. I've tried to write something romantic so friends and family will be able to read something of mine, but once I start typing the words flow and so does the smut!
