The internet’s great paradox: the world can be brought together, but we end up more entrenched in our own fortressesThe internet was supposed to help spread information and new ideas, instead we have sites which uses algorithms to show you stuff you already look at, which just locks you in on one viewpoint and the then sites match you with other people that think the same way as you forming groups of like-minded individuals. It should be like "oh, you watched this article on planned parenthood from Fox news, how about I give you one from CCN, or maybe I just go nuts and show you one from someplace that isn't biased" but instead it seems bent to lean us more one way or the other, creating larger and more antagonistic factions, all in an effort to create the maximum amount of discord and violence. On the plus side, the end effect should be spectacular but on the down side it will probably be massively destructive.
