SUGGESTION: Anonymous Reviews

I’m not suggesting that there aren’t good Anon comments. I’m saying that 99% of the shitty ones are Anon.

Anyway, I hear the music. No need to further belabor the point 😂

Everyone here is "anonymous" if you think about it.

And no, sorry, can't agree. Yeah, Anonymous can be rude, even trolling.

But I also have a lot of wonderful Anonymous comments.

It's a fair trade.

(Pushes glasses up) Well, technically most of us are pseudonymous. We might be using made up names but they are names.

Also, I agree about anonymous comments. Casual readers are the reason the site is alive, so we don't want to make it harder to be a casual reader.

If 99% of the shitty comments are anon, but 60% of Anon comments are good, then that's not a compelling case to do away with Anon comments. My experience is that in fact well over 60% of my Anon comments are good. I ignore the bad ones and enjoy the good ones. Others have the option to do the same, or to prevent people from leaving anonymous comments. You have the power to do what you want. But if anonymous comments are removed, my options are completely taken away.

It's not a symmetrical situation.

I get about as many bad comments from "named" readers as I do from anons. I also get about as many good comments from both. I do learn from both the good and the bad comments, so removing the ability to write comments anonymously will just reduce the number of comments and therefore the opportunity to improve.

You could always write unshitty stories ;).

I find comments tend to reflect category or subject matter, and you have complete control over both.

Turn them off for yourself, but don't ever advocate a global ban on anon. I'd lose half of my most intelligent commentary if the site did that.

To me that acronym makes me think 'quantum field theory,' which then leads meanderingly to the sci-fi literary trope of parallel universes where every possible outcome occurs, and makes me want to write a story where an author and physicist collapses the boundaries between realities in order to make a conglomerated one wherein everyone is pleased with them.
QFT. Er... I mean... go on, then.

I'd like to make a suggestion to remove the ability to leave Anonymous reviews. As I've been reading through lots of stories for the Halloween Contest, it never fails that the most snide, rude, and negative reviews are left anonymously.

I'm sure this suggestion has been debated/discussed before. But I think it would be nice to make people who want to say something negative own it a little bit.
they can still email as anon.

there's also an option to tuen comments off. you can always delete the BS anon comments, too.

Yall almost make me wanna turn on anon comments. I can just delete the bullshit. Fuck it...
Exactly.

You've just got to consider your content, and your category.

As I see it, you get the audience you write for, and they comment accordingly.

I’m just too thin skinned for all this. I leave comments open for a few days after publishing, then shut it down. The negatives sort of fade away after that, and I can feel good about either my score or if my many re-reads go well (like, if I still like it).

I'd love for my stories to get enough comments for this to be an issue. My 11 published stories have a total of 17 comments, 6 of which are mine.

Do reviewers have to be Literotica members? Or, can someone off the street leave a review?
