Crime level is high because some people who should not own arms do. A background check perhaps? At least try to weed out unstable possible

Every state I have bought firearms in runs every purchaser through NCIC check before sale.

I know that is true. I bought a shotgun at a gun show and did all the paperwork and he called in a background check.

I did watch a guy once buy a trapdoor Springfield once by handing the guy money and being handed the rifle, but it was made well before 1898.

I'm not sure if private sales require a background check in Tennessee at gun shows because I have not purchased from a private seller here.

I'm very leery of some of them because it seems they might be TBI or ATF trying to trap people because some guns I have seen for sale are questionable.

They changed the rules Back East so everything is supposed to have a background check. Not sure about it Out West, but I have only bought a long gun there, and that was through a store/FFL.
