Target says it will close nine stores in major cities, citing violence and theft

You have google, I'm sure you can find them. I've also sited a source of a grass roots effort to clean up the city & it's corruption.
I wasn't the one making the generalized claim. I can Google lots of things, but why should I be the one supporting their claim for them? Especially since "progressive policies" tends to just be a random tagline for everything they say is wrong in the world.

You suck at writing sarcasm.

If you look at the crime statistics, you'll notice crime was on the rise before 2019. In fact crime has been on the rise in Portland since the 1980's. Maybe it's all Reagan's fault??

Crime has increased as Portland's population has increased...*gasp* imagine that more people equals more crime....

I guess taking over part of a city makes sense to you. Attempting to burn down a police station is peaceful protest. You’re just an argumentative old bitty. Seattle is also in dire straits, more progressive politicians that have shown lackluster support for their police department, hence smash and grab.

I never said progressive policies. And, I sited a source from an actual citizen. She is an excellent source of what it's like to live in the very areas where walmart, target, etc are closing their doors. She has no progressive/conservative agenda like other news outlets. If your truly interested, take the time and watch her content. Start with what she uncovered on the pot shops and how people at a state level resigned.

There’s been hundreds of citations made over the years to shed light on progressive failures in cities like Seattle, Portland, LA, SF, NYC, Baltimore, Kenosha, Indianapolis. Now add to the mix billions of dollars that these very cities can afford have to spend on illegal migrants. True liberals don’t exist anymore, the Democratic Party is synonymous with a progressive party. They’re Marxist. Just listen to James Carville rant on the stupidity of the Democratic Party (progressive).

There shouldn't be a party. As someone who values my anonymity because of politics, I can tell from the inside, neither party has the high road. They are both looking to serve their own purposes and ambitions, the public be damned. It's all quid pro quo, what can I get out of this, and of course money. The citizens always lose.

I wasn't talking to you when I asked for specifics, unless you forgot to log into the right account. So perhaps that might be your first problem.

As I said....the person making the claim is the one who is required to support it with evidence.....if they don't, then their claim can be dismissed. Whether you agree with that is not my issue.

You’re spot on. I’m not a republican, I’m what you would call a true liberal, constitutional conservative to be more accurate. I believe social programs are inherently good if used to spur self betterment, not used to create dependency. Spending to get votes is disgusting. Both Dems and pubs have brought our country to the brink of disaster. Both parties are existential threats to our republic. Unfortunately they’re the only game in town.

Did you look at the stats? NO of course not, you're just going off on your own little fantasy, because of some rioting over the death of that guy you considered a "piece of shit". You show a lot of objectiveness there...

Yep, you're right. Absolutely. You, a stranger on the internet, non-Portlander, with your PhD in Google, have solved the mystery of why Portland has become such a shit hole. Not the opioid crisis, not the broken county government, not the worthless DA, not even the unique alchemy of our ethos that has brought us to this moment. Thank you for google-ing & solving everything. I'm sure the citizen will be relieved. That crack house next to my mother in law will surely now just *poof* dissappear! You should run for mayor.

The opiod crisis is nation wide. What broke your county between 2020 and 2023? A DA can't do that much damage that quickly. I didn't solve shit nor did I intend to. I think I have to live there and isn't your weather similar to Seattle? Cus if it is what's amazing is that you were ever great.

What stats? They rioted and for what? So Patrisse Cullars could roll the dumb asses for millions. Floyd was a piece of shit.

I’m not sure of your position here. Do you condemn or condone a guy like George Floyd being suffocated in the street?

The historical crime statistics of the city of Portland that I posted two posts or so back.

See that is why it's a useless endeavour to try and have any meaningful type of debate with idiots such as yourself. I post the statistics showing the growth of crime with the population index. You focus on one moment in time, and use that moment to support your whole argument.

Mostly because you're a stupid racist fuck, but be it far from me to make that claim. Others can decide for themselves....

What specific policy was changed regarding shoplifting?

All 48 liquor stores in Philly close until further notice after mass looting

PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER 5:00 PM on September 27, 2023
All Philadelphia Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores, as well as one across the border in Cheltenham Township, will be closed Wednesday after at least 18 locations were broken into on Tuesday night. …

“Fortunately, no employees were hurt, although some were understandably shaken,” Shawn M. Kelly, press secretary for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, said Wednesday in a statement.
The decision to temporarily close four dozen Fine Wine & Good Spirits locations across the city was made, Kelly said, “in the interest of employee safety and while we assess the damage and loss that occurred.”

All the same "people" doing this EVERYWHERE

Retailers reported losing a record $112.1 billion to inventory shrink in 2022, according to the National Retail Federation’s annual Retail Security Survey, published Tuesday.

External theft was the largest contributing factor to shrink, followed by theft by employees. Combined, the two categories of theft account for roughly two-thirds of total shrink.

In addition, more than two-thirds of respondents said they were seeing higher levels of violence and aggression from retail criminals than in prior years.
