Is anybody else experiencing delays in publishing?
I have 5 stories pending, the oldest is a week old. I'm relatively new, but have had 3 stories published already, so not sure why these would be held up. They are in the romance category if that makes a difference. I submitted a support request but haven't heard back yet

I've been having similar delays - waiting for more than a week to get the first in a series of essays approved (interesting, the second was approved yesterday, irritatingly before the first). The delay is, probably, due to the fact that there have been a lot of contests recently. Submissions for contests will be first in the queue, knocking everything else back a little, so hang on and your submissions will be looked at.

Got it. Thanks for the tip. I just have gotten good feedback on my first series so far with multiple people asking where my next chapters are.

My story was published within 2 days. If the category of the story makes any difference I don't know. But I understand that the stories submitted for contests can be prioritized.

I have had my stories go through in a little as 2 days to as much as 10. Don't sweat it. It'll happen when it happens.

Thanks everyone. It seems my post was a bit premature. All of my stories were now approved, but scheduled to go live one a day for the next 5 days.

I currently have four stories pending, but they are all edits (combining chapter stories into single posts) so I expect them to take a couple of weeks to be published.

You can put a note to admin in the box requesting specific dates for release, should you so wish. While they may not be able to hit those dates if they don't get to it in time, you could also say 'Please publish 3 days after previous' for example.

This is sometimes advantageous because there's a peak of hits in the first 3 days due to something being on the 'new' page, which raises traffic to your profile and makes more people aware of you. So by having all 5 come out in subsequent days you're (slightly) gimping that by not maximising your exposure to potential new readers.

Just curious are things a little busy right now for managers? A story I successfully submitted 8 days ago is still pending - hasn't been published or rejected.

My first three stories, recently submitted, were each processed in only 2-3 days. An EDIT is taking longer to go through but I was expecting that as, I understand, these are a lower priority.

I think they don't approve stories in order received.
I submitted a story on 6th Aug and it was approved on 7 Aug and published on 8 Aug
I submitted a story on 3 Aug, approved on 4 Aug and published on 8 Aug.

So that's two stories I've submitted since you've submitted yours and both mine are published. I don't know what the criteria for the order in which stories are approved and published, but it doesn't seem to be FIFO because if it was yours should have been done days ago.

IME it's a number of factors, such as whether you uploaded a word doc or posted straight into the text box, which category you're posting in (some are busier than others), and it wouldn't surprise me if story length also has a bearing. But 8 days isn't atypical based on my own stuff, so I'd let it run a full two weeks before dropping a brief note to Laurel.

My most recent went up in two days, using the text submission Form, and with a note to Laurel drawing her attention to a characterisation issue (to avoid a spurious rejection).

They are definitely taking a while with edits. I usually try to avoid those, but I have an unprecedented two pending right now. Yes, I think there are a couple of contests going right now, so I'm just going to wait it out. Lit is like trying to operate an ocean liner with only Laurel on the bridge and Manu in the engine room. If they wanted to add crew, they would have done it a long time ago.

Anyway, an excuse to show perhaps the most beautiful ship ever.

The first three chapters of my new story went up two days apart after each submission, 26th, 28th, 30th. The fourth one is still pending, submited the 31st. There are things that speed it along, and things that slow it down.
