Hi

We have attempted to contact several other authors, a few editors, and also people who have favorited our story and have never had a reply, which is odd, surely at least one would have replied. Our communications are friendly and polite. do these contacts get through?

P & S

They do.

Perhaps the author doesn't check their email.

Are they still actively participating in the site, or dormant?

Lots of things could factor in.

But the most probable is they received your message and opted not to reply.

I try to answer all my emails unless it's something I don't want to respond to. However, since they come to my private email, I'm cautious about responding. IMs or PMs, whichever they are, on here are easier to get a response on as it still preserves anonymity.

If you're trying to contact people by email through Literotica, then make sure you include your email address in your message. The site does not release your email address, and the recipient can't reply to you unless you give them your address.

Good point, I forgot about that.

If there is something worth replying to, I will always do so!

Especially if it's constructive either praise or criticism.

It proves that they read my story.

Thank you all for your replies!

Yes, we have always included our e-mail in these messages.

Of course, some may simply not wish to respond to us, for whatever reason, but it is a bit odd if you have written in praise of a story and the person "opted not to respond". Everyone likes praise and positive feedback, don't they? Why do they post a story on the site if they are not bothered about positive feedback?

This apparent lack of interaction is a thing we have found disappointing about the site. Finding someone prepared to talk about their story is seemingly a fruitless task!

As someone said, though, it may well be spam filters....
Just because someone posts stories here doesn't automatically mean they want to be contacted, for any number of reasons.

The site gives authors the means to limit communication - some authors chose to use those blocks. You shouldn't judge them for doing so.

I suspect a lot of authors registered with a throw away email account they've never used, or even checked, since.
I'm just the opposite, which means that e-mails from Literotica go to my main e-mail account which would clearly provide my true identity to anyone I replied to that way. Ain't happening. Sorry

I have a Lit only account - it even has Lit in the name 😊. I do check it, but not as regularly as my “real” personal email of course.

I suspect many do the same.

I’ve also missed story feedback as it was buried in other Lit notifications.

Oh, I get plenty of e-mail feedback from readers - between ten and twenty each week. I just don't reply to them through e-mail.

If they include their user name and have an account here that I can send them a personal message, I will respond that way.

I check that first, but it’s often people who aren’t on the forums who message via the feedback form.

You only have one email? I have like five. One of them is for real life stuff, like doctors appointments jobs, etc. The five wasn't on purpose, but they come in handy.

As a volunteer editor and beta reader, I gladly direct people who seek my services to my personal email via private Conversations on these boards. I also have my email posted in a few places online and other private messaging services. I’m not ashamed of being an adult entertainment professional, why should I be? I’m an excellent fiction writer and verbal judo practitioner. Nor do I fear death.

I don’t always see feedback immediately, but when I do I appreciate it and usually respond with honest feelings when I can. There have been a few people with whom I’ve had online issues but they were few and far between and it was more about them than me.

I have a dummy email account that I only use for Literotica stuff, which is subsequently only infrequently checked...other authors might do the same?

I have several email accounts, but only one for writing. Well, two, I have an old yahoo account I don't use often. I could respond to that one. But the creepers don't get responses. The problem is, you can't always judge a creeper by his first email.

Yeah, that's true.

This.

When you start writing on Lit, you assume you're going to have all sorts of interesting conversations with starstruck readers. Then you end up getting one, maybe two emails a month. So you quit checking your Lit email, and eventually you might forget you even have one.

It's a definite possibility, OP.
