Sex & Shenanigans

Ok, while listening to a podcast this morning there was rapture talk about just exactly what gets left behind.

As someone who’s not rapture knowledgeable, im not sure about all the mechanics but my understanding is if you are one of fortunate, your human form vanishes but like there is a pile of clothes left behind.

This has me wondering, what else gets left behind. My filling (well I guess yours, since I’m not on the to be raptured list) contact lenses, pace makers? What about organic material that is in you but not you. Like waste, that’s no longer you or undigested food. Also, a shocking amount of our living body mass is not us as well. Like your gut bacteria? Does that get to join you in eternal glory or is it just left in a pile on the bathroom floor with your underwear?

Can someone tell me how this works?

I mean, Queen has something to say on that subject that I wholeheartedly agree with.
I mean mine can probably be seen from space but as long as I don't need a wheelbarrow to cart it around I'll try not to let it bring me down.
I'm just trying to find that sweet spot between a healthy diet and melted cheese

What about people wearing plugs or other wearable and fun items. Are the people who think you'd get beamed up the sort who think sex toys are sinful or would there be a few hidden surprises among the clothes?

Yeah, what is the evangelical position on supplementals for fun and happiness? Would a plug disqualify you for eternal salvation or will that little bit of backdoor joy mean you are left to war with the forces of the antichrist down here with us?

I think Evangelicals think Catholics are idolaters……so yeah, in their version, you are stuck here with us.
Lovely......just bring the alcohol/wine then......i have a feeling there won't be any books to read there.

Edited: Food you and i have already discussed

Like any group, Evangelicals run the gamut of opinions and positions on things. I don't think most hold that position though, if we're using the term Evangelical in the widest sense.

I’m more curious about my original question.

This one? The answer would be essentially the same. It would be a fairly safe bet that most would say it would need to occur within the confines of marriage, though you may have some on the fringe that would disagree on that. Mainline, though, that's probably the #1 question.

Once you get past that, the more conservative end would probably shy away from those kind of things, but I don't think there's any specific doctrinal reason. Some might say the only way to get such things is through "sex sites" and justify it that way, but there are sites that sell toys that are specifically geared towards married couples exploring toys and things like that so that's not a valid justification.

When you're getting into the more moderate and progressive people within the umbrella, I'd say a good number use them but might not admit to it and wouldn't talk about it openly.

Speaking from my experience, my grad work was in counseling and one of my classes was marital and premarital counseling. As part of it, we had to create a game to use in the contexts of that kind of counseling. My group, at my suggestion, made one about sex. It wasn't dirty, it wasn't a truth or dare thing, it was more educational and encouraged couples to talk more openly with each other about their desires and interests. Several of the cards involved questions about toys, oral/anal/etc.. It ended up being so good our professor asked if she could keep it for her practice, haha.

But the fact that a game like that was such a good thing does speak to the general sentiment of the movement that does kind of repress sex as a "dirty" thing, so there is definitely validity to that characterization, it's just not universal.

Sorry if that was a more serious answer than you were looking for.

No, the original question is what gets physically left behind in the rapture. Within our mass what is the line between us and not us. Definitely your clothing gets “Left Behind” but what else is not you. Your fillings, medical implants, undigested food, body waste, bacteria inside us? I want to know what’s in the pile left behind

Well, most evangelical denominations don't actually believe in the rapture Left Behind style and none I've participated in have, so I'm actually not a great resource on that one. Ita more of a fringe belief that gets attributed more widely than it should.

Are there any mediums or psychics in here that can provide @Bry1313 with the answer? Please. Just asking for a friend. Don't know if that will help or not. But worth a shot.
