You can get around this in Firefox - running in Private Browsing means that Firefox doesn't rememeber history, passwords etc and (supposedly anyway) clears out disk cache when the process ends. Just checked and Cliterotica doesn't show in my exceptions list for saved passwords.

I don't save any of my Lit stuff (writing or pictures) neither on my PC, nor on the laptop, everything is either on the phone (fingerprint protected) or on a dedicated google drive that goes with the AnnieLit email. I log into that drive only in the incognito mode, so the password is not stored on the PC or laptop. It is saved on the phone, but fingerprint protection is pretty hard to break.

I had three teens at home when I started writing. Didn't want to get into any Lit related discussions with them

I do most of my rough writing on my phone in a password folder. Then when editing on my computer, I basically store the files in my email as attachments in sent emails.

And name the files really boring names. Work stuff. Something like "budget", training, HR bullshit.

My kids don't use my computer without my permission... so in general - it's not a concern, though I am good at Command M to hide the screen...

I don't write using my real name, nor is my email address my real name, so there's no direct link - even if one day as they get old enough to go looking for some erotica to read, I doubt they'd know it's mine...

I also do my erotica writing in an online email account, saving as drafts... so that way - the erotica itself is not directly saved on my computer. Yeah - not amazing editing on that kind of platform vs Word or something... but it works for me for now.

My kid's laptops seem to be constantly at the shop for repairs, and since they were needed for school and homework. I had to share mine.

FYI, the extended warranty at Microcenter on computers is a great investment. I can't believe they continued to repair the computers.

I have a superb script that hides a folder within Windows, you can't even see that it exists. All you get is a simple text file where you enter a password and the folder jumps into view.
It would take a dedicated IT professional to even find it (if they knew it was there to find) and still they need to crack the password. A 32 character password including specials, numbers and capitals would seriously slow anyone down.

As for grandchildren... I use the same plan my parents used - That's Their Parent's Problem

However if I had kids I would store all my work on an external drive that required external power to work and was password protected at the OS level which makes it protected if I'm traveling also... just not protected from brain farts at the user level.

Currently, my child is not old enough to read, but when the little munchkin finally learns, I don't want to risk accidentally exposing them to the stuff I write.

Several options (Keep in mind, we have a litter of six, these are all guarantied to work):

1. Don't teach the little darling to read (They will teach themselves just to spoil your plan but save you $$$$$ in educational fees)

2. Teach them to read, just not English (see option number 1, however now you'll have a multilingual urchin for the same price)

6. Write everything in cursive and snail mail it to one of us old timers who will transcribe and post it for you this one is crazy enough to work!

Well, I have given my dad my old phone for Christmas, and did get a bit paranoid over triple-checking the factory reset and that there was nothing at all of mine on the thing (everything should have been saved on my SIM and thus removed, but I certainly don't trust the tech...)

I do even more writing on my phone during endless appts and such. Everyone in the family knows you don't mess with other people's phones. Though the teens do still have trackers on theirs. Mostly because we've never bothered to remove them, and if they've never bothered to look or remove them, may as well leave as is. If they get to a point of removing them, then that's very useful info for their parents to have.

In the early 2000’s my daughter and I shared a passion for HP fanfic and that’s when I started writing. On the desktop computer we shared I had a folder dadstuff\fiction\hpfanfic. That was fine, it was pg to pg-13. Being able to get into that gave her something to “snoop” on.
The stuff she wasn’t allowed to read was in dadshomework\compclasses\projectmgt\writeups
Writeups was a locked folder.
It also kept the wife out of it.
